Sometimes, SE++, something reminds us of what we enjoy about where we live. Usually we take our surroundings for granted, or long for the greener grass just over the next hill. If only we lived somewhere
else, things would be better.
But sometimes, those happy moments come that remind us, subtly or grandly, that our town might not be such a shit-hole after all.
Such a thing happened recently to me: one of the nice things about LA is that you can sign up with a market research/focus group firm to see preview screenings of movies -- you fill out some questionnaires and such and get a free movie.
Well this week I saw Black Swan, the new Darren Aronofsky flick, including the much-talked-about graphic lesbian love scene between Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman.
And then by coincidence, the next day I was able to sign up to see Scott Pilgrim -- I'm going next week!
So in two weeks I'll have, for free, seen mila kunis and natalie portman getting it on, and scott pilgrim, both far before their official release.
Sometimes LA isn't such a bad town. Tell me, SE, of your hometown pride.
Edit: and for fuck's sake mention where you live I don't keep track of this shit
goddamn
Double Edit: I signed an NDA and therefore cannot discuss if/how hot the lesbian scene was
See it for yourself when it comes out!

Very scenic, especially this time of the year and fall as well. I'm close to the coast so there's Puget Sound to look at. A little bit east of here is the Cascades and man I love it there. I'd probably see the water from my house actually if I wasn't surrounded by trees.
Also I can see the Olympic mountains out on the peninsula from here as well. Oh I get to cross the Stilliguamish river on my way up to town and it's a pretty river. There's a ton of state parks around here as well but I haven't been to them in a while.
I had a religious experience recently
when, or in regards to what, I refuse to say
this is unrelated to any previous conversations thus far in this thread
I saw God and he had a rockin' ass
I have no pride anymore.

The End
Moved to Union Bridge.
Then to Sykesville.
Now living in Mount Airy.
Also felt the Earthquake this morning. Before any of you west coast people laugh at us, I think this brings the total number of truly noticeable earthquakes the DC-Baltimore area has had in the last 30 years to one. Never felt like I was in danger. In fact, I'm sure the only reason I noticed it was because I just woke up to take a leak, and was in the process of going back to sleep for a while before work. Kinda laid there, wondered what that rumble/shaking was, wrote it off as either:
1: Semi hauling major ass down the road I live on.
2: Low flying fighter jet, it happens being not that far from DC/Andrews AFB
3: Some fucking meth lab exploding.
Then went back to bed.
I like Eagle Rock a whole bunch
Grew up in Alton, VA in the middle of nowhere farm country trying to deal with tobacco not being king anymore.
Now I live in Richmond with a bunch of art school kids and punks.
