Affordable Gaming PC recommendations

Starcraft 2 comes out next month and in the market for getting a gaming PC for <$1,000 CAD. Not really interested in buying all the parts separately and putting it together myself, so mostly looking for one of the prebuilt options.

The local option is: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX26167(ME).aspx

Are there any online options that are generally better price for the same specs? Or same price for way better specs?

How does: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229194 compare to the above link? I haven't bought a pc in over 5 years and I dunno how this AMD compares to the above Intel, or how this ATI gpu compares to the above nVidia.

Your help is appreciated!

edit: I found this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227243
Comments on it, or have any links to a better alternative?

That's the one I'm thinking of for now. Any comments on it? Thanks.

edit3: Bought one. You can go ahead and close this thread if you like.

Thats pretty much what you want, but for that kinda money you want at least a quad-core CPU

    this one fits the bill

You replied just as I made that 3rd edit.

I ended up buying this: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX27037%28ME%29.aspx

It was local too, so I was able to pick it up after work and am on it right now.

Haven't used windows in so long. What programs do I need to keep it safe and is there already a thread somewhere with a list of recommended programs for Windows 7? Thanks.

Get Microsoft Security Essentials. It's not the bestest Antivirus around from a security standpoint, but it is up there. It excels in being seamless, unobtrusive, and generally a positive experience all around.

7zip is probably what you want for all your file extracting needs.

You should probably get and try Steam. It's the best digital distribution platform around for vidya games. Have you been on Macs before? It's available there too!

Pick out your browser of choice. IE is honestly not an awful option anymore, but there's certainly no reason not to go get whatever you're most comfortable with.

Same thing with media players. WMP isn't awful, but there's plenty of options around.

SumatraPDF is something that I like quite a lot. It's amazingly quick compared to Adobe Reader. There are cases where it won't quite render PDFs as accurately (or with as many features) as Adobe's reader, but for 90% of PDF viewing it's way more pleasurable.

As far as where to (and how to) install these suggestions, I highly recommend Ninite:

    http://ninite.com/

You just click on the things you want, then it'll package it all up in a nice executable to download and install automatically.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

What's a good free image viewer? I like to read manga occassionally, and Xee for mac is awesome! Is there anything similar to it for windows?

Try CdisplayEX. You put the manga in a zip, change the extension to .cbz (you can do it with the command-line), and it opens it with that program by default.

MS. Security Essentials didn't seem to play nice with Opera (in xp at least.
