As long as the inking doesn't slow him down, that's fine. He took Sandeau Florea's jerb!

I thought his pencil work was always pretty solid, this is a pretty cool turn to me.

So...RIP Missing Chapter Part 2
It was pretty good, but I was hoping it would end with '3,650,000 days to Omega'

It read like it was spinning it's wheels in the second half of the book, and Daniel went really ink heavy.
I liked 701 but this read like Morrison had nothing else to really offer beyond what has been put together in RoBW. I guess it would be cool if the box in RoBW is
the Ancestor Box Darkseid had after shooting Batman with the sanction
In a week full of filler stories (David Finch 2 pager, for example), Batman #702 felt like the 'filler-est' issue. More like JUSTICE LEAGUE CODE DIDIO MORRISON CASHGRAB.

Detective #868 was a good issue though, I would recommend it for the story and page count. The story is actually more original than I thought, and you get to see a cowboy Batman vigilante. Definitely one of the better Hine stories I've read so far.
702 was fan-freaking-tastic. An issue that reveals who/what Dr. Hurt is can't be filler.
What is he?
He's the Hyper-fauna in ROBW #2, sent by Darkseid to bedevil Bruce for all time. It's been possessing the 1700s Thomas Wayne (possible others) after he "drank" it.

I'm not saying you're wrong, since I'm the guy that doesn't catch half the stuff in the annotations, but I definitely didn't catch that connection.

I was thinking about what the Luggage meant too. All I can really come up with is maybe he thinks:
Ancestor box had a tentacle coming out of it, so that was supposed to be the megafauna? Actually, now that I look it up, they both DO have glowy blue suction cups on their smooth black limbs, so, maybe this is spot on. Then Bruce kills the beast, so its blood and remains pollute that pool in the Magiani cave, and maybe that's the Starry Venom Thomas talks about in ROBW 4. Maybe.
By this extension, it would seem
The Bat-box is Darkseid's Ancestor Box, changed in its own appearance. You get the 'bell ringing' stuff when whatshername in ROBW4 is being used to try to open it. We all know it has the ability to change practically everything. I'm assuming only a Wayne can open it. So, the fabled 'All Over' is when Bruce opens the box and does a hard reset on all his Black Glove shit.
After shifting to Grayson’s often presumptuous sidekick (already an established fan favorite) Damian Wayne, DiDio identified the youngest of the bat-family as a “breakout character.” When asked if there were any plans in the works for a Damian mini-series, DiDio paused with a grin.
“You know what would be cool? A Damian mini-series by Andy Kubert.”
Anyway, so DC still think the Image Comics thing is a great idea? Ugh. Worse still, if Kubert writes and draws it, there'll be a new Robin before he actually finishes the bloody mini.
I made a joke about Morrison's posts, but it won't get here for two weeks.

I totally agree Damian is an excellent character, but I don't feel he needs his own title. There are enough Bat-titles as it is right now, and he's getting regular attention in several of those already. Plus, I don't think there's a real point in having a Robin and a Red Robin title at the same time. I suppose they'll just call it DAMIAN or something, though. But why?
I'd be happier just keeping him where he is, at present. Damian is proving to be an excellent character foil for almost anyone you put him in a room with, and by extension manages to make those characters more interesting by forcing them to show different sides of themselves because the arrogant but highly skilled little bastard happens to be the Son of the Batman. By making him the center of a book, that quality disappears and by god they'll have to find something better to replace it with if they want to make that move already.
Damian thrives as the interloper, the scene stealer, the mean little snot that just doesn't give a damn who he'll offend. If we start following him everywhere it'll make things rather boring.

Starting in November, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN will feature the ongoing adventures of Dick Grayson as Batman, with Damian as Robin. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne will take center stage in the pages of Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette’s BATMAN INC. and writer/artist David Finch’s BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT.
Glad to see Dick and Damien will still team up, as he's done a good job keeping the kid in check.
Nicieza is actually the guy who laid out the whole "event", and is now writing Batman #703.
I do like this mention:
Well, I want to break it down myself and talk about each of the titles you wrote, beginning with "Batman & Robin," which as you mention, starts the whole event. What can you say about Bruce's reaction to Damian being Robin and his thoughts on how Dick has been shepherding him?
Without giving too much away, Bruce's narrative in the story is about him coming to a sense of conclusion about how he feels about watching them in action. I don't want to give too much away about how he feels, because that's the emotional flow of the story, but I can say that you can imagine he might feel tremendous pride at what Dick has been able to accomplish, and possibly even a little bit of insecurity or jealousy that maybe it's been done far more easily than Bruce expected.
And this:
As far as Dick is concerned, he's my favorite character in comics and has been since I was about six or seven years old. I'm the wrong guy to ask, because in my opinion he should be the leader of the free DC Universe. The fact that he was able to assume the role of Batman - although he wasn't necessarily thrilled about it - and comfortably make it his own so quickly is a testament to the character. It's enjoyable for me as a reader to see other writers get it and have him smoothly assuming a leadership role in the Justice League with all the other characters accepting it, or to see writers understand how he would interact with Commissioner Gordon and handle Gotham City cops in a way that is so different than how Bruce does it. The writers who understand Dick Grayson, and I honestly don't think there are that many of us, have clearly had fun writing him, but they've enabled a whole lot of readers who didn't understand the character to see him shine in a new light.
I like that point, because in the past few years it's been true. Dixon, Tomasi, and the few times Nicieza has written him work well. The Winick, Grayson, and Wolfman stuff, not so much.
Fantastic news. Dick and Damian have been the most fun characters I've read in a long time.
I just hope they don't try to be confusing about it and have Bruce be a Batman. Give him a job like Steve Rogers has to Bucky's Captain America.

I'm glad this announcement means Tomasi writes Dick again.
And Bruce will probably be bossing Oracle around int he cave while he tries to coordinate everything, always looking over her shoulder, telling her the programming code she's using is wrong, he would do it this way, where's his bat-cup of bat-coffee, firing Alfred just for the fun of it.
If Bruce Wayne turned into Michael Scott I would have no problem with it.

Hurt was created by Darkseid with the Ancestor Box to be the thing that destroys him?

They'd make Bruce be all dark and broody like he was pre-IC and probably wouldn't have had the longer runs Morrison and Dini had on the main titles.
I'm honestly shocked they're taking that direction for Batman and Batman & Robin. But pleased.

Hal Jordan would be his Toby. I don't know who would be the Dwight Schrute in this situation. That guy Kevin Smith made in that terrible mini series?
