Having seen no love for Perpetuum on here I figured I'd provide an intro. So here it is.
BACKGROUND STORY
In the not-too-distant future, a strange anomaly opens the gates of the universe for humans. With this new technology, energy, information and atomic size objects can be transported to anywhere in space.
The most intriguing of all new discoveries is an Earth-like planet, where humanity discovers a new source of energy, vital to its unbroken advancement. However, this planet is inhabited by a synthetic, robot-like life form. Their technology and resources are the goal of humanity's new conquest.
Players may take part in various areas of the project. They may fight on the front lines for new territories, develop the already established infrastructure, trade goods or services, or even set their own goals and set up their own coprorations.

Having played EVE for over five years now I have definitely found many similarities between the two but I still have high hopes. I've also been playing the beta and found it very entertaining. Perpetuum is pretty much giving me everything I wanted out of EVE that EVE wouldn't give to me...and then some.
So....thoughts/comments anyone?

Their pages don't describe the gameplay at all. Is it like a standard MMO with mechs? Click on target press 1?
All their media they have up makes it look like Mechwarrior which would be enough to make me give it a try.

Hrm...gameplay seems...EVE'ish? I don't know.
Oh! Gameplay video:

The same terrible UI, mind numbing pve, and recycled art assets. I guess if you really hate spaceships it's worth a try, but it definitely wasn't for me.
I think the last time I saw it it even had exactly the same hud and overview boxes.

You can still control with W,A,S,D. Fights are similar though :?
MECH MMO
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
::hyperventilates::
Not interested, but the concept of a Mechsuit based MMO of any kind has a large amount of potential if done right, in my opinion. This however doesn't appear to be it. I mean come on... giant mechs that don't make the ground shudder and have dirt fly into the air every time your foot hits the ground? Where's the passion?

So for content, can anyone in the Perpetuum beta that has seen some pvp or the different sec levels give an idea what it's like? I've only seen the starting zone for where my character ended up, so I've only farmed drones in a noob robot and looked around the market.

Put mine in yesterday when I noticed the thread. Have the goons started invading Perpetuum yet?
Edit: Yeah, goons dabbled in Perpetuum for a little bit but didn't really stick with it. Their corp is called Awful Industries and seem to be largely inactive. They have a pretty decent thread on SA. I'd link it but that site is blocked at work v0v. Check the first page in the mmo subforum.

It's fairly cool and has a lot of potential to be something special. Plus, it's a time-based skill progression I can start at release, so I won't feel like I could never catch up (like all those times I attempted to get into EVE after the fact).
This game ripped Eve off for a WHOLE lot of stuff, and then they unnecessarily complicated parts of Eve that were already complicated, like mining.
I have no freaking idea what to do once I figure the tutorial. Looks like Eve, though.

Got raped by robots.
So confused.
I agree, it would be cool to be able to play a game like this or EVE from the start and not have to catch up. Just got my beta invite and downloading the client now.

Terrain.
Whats that? You are shooting me with all your might?
*ducks in to trench*
While it seems like EVE, PVP is not like EVE.
Yep; and anyone can out-compete CCP for service, so if this is feature-similar to eve, then I guess this is the future...
9 months later its perpetuum.
But who is the father?
PS: perpetuum going open beta soon
