Automating Audio Output switch

ArrathArrath Registered User regular
Like a lot of people, I use both speakers and, at times, a headset with my computer. Problem being its a USB headset, so I can't just plug it in and have it swap output from my speakers. Indeed, I just keep the headset plugged in at all times, for the microphone.

What I'm looking for is some method to swap the default output device, so I don't have to go into the sound panel every time I want to change it.

Helpful for say, games like TF2 (or anything using Source) since it chokes and dies whenever I alt-tab it. Or when I'm watching the other input on my monitor.

Are there any commands that would let me do this in a batch file? Or would I be stuck whipping up a autohotkey type script?

Well, I found some people in the comments of this page providing an autohotkey script to change it. I couldn't find a better way, though.
