I know that some people are playing the Pokemon: Tabletop Adventures game here, so I thought I'd drop a link to the Beta .pdfs since they are done.

Only problem I see is there's still no explanation of starting Pokedollars for new trainers. Guess that will remain DM fiat for now.

Yes. Money pricing needs to change from campaign setting to campaign setting. Plus, different towns will price things differently. In a communist setting, where Pokemon Centers are cheap and Poke Balls are cheap everything else should be cheap. However in a setting where Center visits are not free, everything else would probably be more expensive as well.

You know, that made me realize how socialist the whole world of Pokemon is.

FREE HEALTH CARE? FOR EVERYONE? Clearly propaganda.

Also free health care in addition to free / cheap hostel stays. How are pokecenters subsidized? Are they supported by tax? Do they offer alternative, paid services? Is this ever addressed anywhere?

They probably just have Meowth that use Pay Day over and over again.

Realistically, however, when you have animals that can produce money and food without end, and other animals that can manipulate things with their minds and make free energy, what limited resources aren't being taken care of that would require allocation?

And that's likely why so many children are encouraged to go befriend these bizarre creatures; all the adults know that if the Pokemon stop being friends with people then all of society is doomed.

If Meowth can spam pay day then currency will be quickly devalued :O

Edit: and this is why pay day is a once/pokemon center visit move in PTA.

Yeah presumably Meowth Coins are not legal tender and have greatly devalued the price of gold or whatever they're made out of

    meowth doesn't make coins

Pay Day is used from the coins he picks up on the streets

There's actually a guy in Pokemon Adventures with two Meowths that he makes keep using Payday against each other to get rich

I think trying to figure out the economy of a world where people casually pass around miracle creatures that are workforce/weapons/pets/potential foodsource/lifeblood of society combined into one, you're trying a little too hard. Still, it's fun to ponder.

But yes, Pokemon Centers are likely free because the alternative would be something far more dangerous and less peaceful. As for the effect of abilities like Pay Day, if it does create money out of thin air, perhaps the materials this "money" is made out of is something useful for, say, circuits or machine parts or something. If so, then this fabricated metal translates to cash-money in the trainer's pocket; perhaps there is a government-established exchange program for businesses, where they can bring in what is essentially raw materials and receive credit with the government for it.

Honestly, you'd need a little more information about the "kingdom" all the regions are part of, and just how well-organized everything is.
