Diabeetus

So I think I might have it. (type II Diabetes I think)

Few bits of information about me and some questions.

Info
- Age 20 Male. 6ft. 175lbs
- There is a history of it in my family
- I find myself having to piss a lot (like 2-3 times an hour) IF I'm just at home lounging. If I'm out and about at work or school, it's more normal.
- I don't exersise regularly. I use freeweights when I can but it's hardly anything regular, and not much cardio outside of my work that requires me to walk constantly for several hours.
- I do try to eat healthier than most and try to stay away from sweets
- When I'm lounging and do have to piss a lot, it is very clear and I guess you would say diluted, when I'm working and whatnot and the piss schedule is fine, it's not diluted.

- Honestly, I feel fine. But it's the pissing that kind of worries me since I've heard Type II can go almost unnoticed for a long time.

Questions
- What do you think?
- If I should see a doctor, any particular kind of doctor?

When you're lounging around peeing a lot, do you happen to be drinking caffeinated beverages or booze?

Nope, I pretty much only drink water and slightly sweetened iced tea and I don't drink more or less than I would at any other time.

You seem too thin to have diabeetus. Usually type II is adult-onset and results from being overweight.

Still, it's possible. If you are really concerned have a doctor check you out.

You can be tested for this - basically you don't eat for 12 hours, you visit the doc, they feed you a really sugary drink, and then draw blood to see how your body metabolizes the sugar. It's fairly simple to undergo, and you physican can recommend you to a specialist, or maybe administer it himself.

Iced tea has ample caffeine to cause frequent urination, although it doesn't explain why it only happens when you're at home.

It never hurts to get checked by a doctor, but...

Could it be that when you're at home lounging about, you go at the slightest feeling that you need to, since you've got nothing more pressing to do, and when you're out, you wait to go until you really need to, since going all the time is inconvenient?

Also, it's quite possible that you're actually drinking more at home than you do when you're out and about, but not realizing it. Again, it's the convenience factor. At home, it's easy to keep a glass of water or tea at hand, but if you're out and about, you have to carry that bottle (or whatever) around, replace it or look for a place to refill it when it's empty, etc. What happens if you're at home doing something you're really intent on doing and don't want to interrupt?

Honestly, if this were a medical problem, I'd expect the same issues to occur whether you were busy or idle.

If you do go to the doctor, take a book or something else to dol The first blood sugar test they do is a quickie, it "only" takes an hour... 2 blood draws (one before the sugar drink and one an hour after it), then how quick you get the results depends on how backed up the lab is. If that turns up a potential problem, then they do the really annoying one where they take blood every half hour (maybe it was only every hour, I know I felt like a pincushion when they were done) for 3 hours after you drink the sugary stuff, and you don't get to eat (my doctor's office wouldn't let me leave the waiting room area, I guess to be sure I didn't eat anything) until they're done. I'm not sure what the routine is past that, as my 3-hour test turned out ok.

I would never, ever say that I had anything until a doctor told me so, even if I felt that I had all the symptoms.

If you think you have Diabeetus, go to your doc and have some tests done.

I dunno... It doesn't really sound like it to me, but you might have some kind of bladder issue happening right now (overactive bladder? infection?) I mean either way, if it's bugging you enough to ask us about it, then it's enough of an issue to see a doctor about it.

Thanks everyone, I'm just going to talk to my physician about it and see what he thinks.

Was probably going to do that anyway but wanted to see what other people here think.

Sounds like it could be an infection or as was mentioned you have no other pressing matters at home to worry about so you go at the slighest urge. Hows your digestion between? Apetite good? Libido normal, high or low?

As the above people have said, talk to a doctor before you self-diagnose. Just as an anecdote, however, I had similar symptoms a few years back that turned out to be a urinary tract infection.

You definitely seem on the skinny side for Type II diabetes. :D

Just so you know, clear to light colored urine is a good sign. It means you have a healthy diet and it's no suprise if you're going alot that your urine is relatively clean; there isn't much for your bladder to flush out.

If you just drink fluids quite heavily whilst at home (especially any sugary drinks) then that's pretty normal.

edit: The obvious test for diabetus if no one has ever told you, is to taste your piss. If it's sweet, you probably have a problem. If you don't feel like tasting it, there's actually sticks you can buy over the counter http://www.valuemed.co.uk/acatalog/Ketone_Tests.html
