I just used it on that mace dude I posted earlier (the barbarian). It worked just fine. It's recommended you use a normal sealer then dullcote over it, but you don't have to as long as you're not to rough on your models. It won't prevent chipping if you're rubbing models up against each other. But for all intents and purposes it will be fine.
The proper way to seal your models is to encase them in carbonite.

I thought the proper way to seal your models was to in case them in bricks of acrylic then firing them into space so that no one can get finger prints on the acrylic
This is already more complicated than I wanted it to be. I just want my metal models to stop chipping, dammit.

Yeah, give it a coat of the spray varnish and then spray the dullcote over the top of that when it dries. The varnish protects the minis and doesn't dull the metals, the dullcote takes the shine off the gloss varnish.
Was hoping to make it into this thread before it closes! (and maybe into the OP in the next thread ) Here are my five devastator "wounds" again, now painted and based:
2nd company represent. And clean up those mold lines and sprue scars! Other than that your stuff looks spectacular, well painted Ultramarines are always a treat.
Honesty the sprue scars (like that dude on the right, on his shoulde pad trim) are more jarring than the mold lines. I can see sprue scars from across the room, they haunt me in my dreams!
I'm going to build and paint some model with zero cleaning sometime. Maybe from the mid-90s. Just to see what happens to you, SJ.
it's not like they'd be any uglier, morsk ;-)
Oh that's it. It's on. I'm going to leave so many mould lines on that's all you can see. Mould lines with mould lines on them. You'll see mould lines on people walking down the street. You'll taste the mould lines in your soup. Hear them whispering in your dreams.
(Actually I have enough to paint anyway so I probably won't do this. But I could!)

Go with a coat of a gloss varnish first and then dullcote over the top, dullcote doesn't protect as well as a gloss and it'll dull metallics.

And with the rest of the squad:
