Math / graph software

I'm looking for an app that lets me place some points on a 2D graph, and then gives me a formula for a line running through those points. For example: if I give points (0,0) and (1,1) the app would give the function y = x.

I have OS X and Windows.

Thanks!

Grapher in OS X may be able to do it. Fooling around I got it to draw a point set but not display the equation so I am not sure.
    Its in HD:Applications:Utilites:Grapher

If you don't own Excel, there's a lot of free spreadsheet programs that try to mimic Excel, and they should be able to do what you want.

I didn't know Excel could do that :-)

After a lot of searching I found out the term I was looking for is 'curve fitting', and this site is exactly what I needed.

Thank you for referencing my hobby web site. Do you have any suggestions for changes or improvements?

Putting your name and address on a public forums isn't the smartest thing to do.

It's in my open source projects in every file and the phone book, so I'm not particular about doing so. May I ask why I should not do so - you may have a good reason that I'm not aware of. It might be a practice I should stop.

A really powerful math program is Maple. It is made by maplesoft. You can do a lot of things with it.

What's worse than a cold toilet seat? A warm toilet seat. There's only one way short of magic it could have gotten warm. At first, you're almost thankful it's warm, then you get to thinking... this is the result of another person's ass-warmth.
