THE COLONY: BOILING DEAD PIGS AND BEING MELODRAMATIC

The first season was filmed in an industrial area bordering the Los Angeles River on the edge of downtown Los Angeles, and follows ten cast members in an environment that simulates life after a global catastrophe. The series first aired on the Discovery Channel on July 21, 2009. Filming began on February 28, and ran until April 28, 2009.
A second season began filming in April 2010. It is set in Chalmette, Louisiana and the season premiere aired on July 27, 2010. A website using Facebook Connect to simulate a viral outbreak was also launched to accompany Season Two.
Season 2 begins with seven complete strangers that almost all have a heavy background in construction or mechanical trades.
* Becka Adams is a professional model, but grew up on a horse ranch in Colorado where her family raised Arabian horses.
* Jim Armisted works as a carpenter by trade and a general outdoors-man with an interest in disaster preparedness. His expertise is in water filtration, trapping, self-defense, and shelter creation.
* Sally Dawson is an auto mechanic and owns her own garage. Growing up in urban Massachusetts conditioned her with plenty of street smarts and independence. She brings expertise in cars, engines, and self-defense.
* Robert Deville is a retired building contractor. He brings expertise in the areas of construction and anything else involving a workshop.
* Sian Proctor is geology professor at a community college in Arizona and specializes in geological hazards. She also has a pilot's license and an expert of math and the sciences.
* Reno Ministrelli is a construction foreman for a cellular tower company in Michigan. He also has skills in welding and carpentry.
* George Willis is an industrial artist and architect that enjoys working with recycled materials. He is also a Red Cross disaster volunteer and is capable of providing emergency medical assistance.
This show is actually pretty cool. We should discuss it.
THESE BIKERS ARE COMING TO FUCK YOU UP BUT NOT REALLY BUT I GUESS IF YOU SAW THE FIRST SERIES YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW THAT SO JUST KEEP YOUR DOOR LOCKED AND THEY'LL PROBABLY JUST BANG ON IT A BIT.

i want them to sign wavers that let them get actually attacked
I mean not enough to permanently hurt them, but enough where they don't have to pretend to be afraid of people on bikes
the intruders actually pepper spray the colonists and shit this time. and like wrestle them to the ground and steal all their shit.
it's pretty intense if you let yourself forget that "wait this is a television show"
and there is an architect and that's pretty good. not quite an engineer but whatevs.
i would love to see a "simple life"-esque group of people in this predicament
like a couple of strippers, an heiress, a make-up artist, a waiter, maybe like, throw a farmer in there for good measure - someone who knows what they're doing and might be useful but would be completely the opposite of the others

I am excited for this. They better tell me every episode that the survivors are not in any real danger but they don't know that.
yay you posted!
when does the first episode come out? or has it already?
i liked that the first one had a whole Facebook game with it - probably the only Facebook game that has nearly gotten me on board (save for Farmville, which I do not play anymore)
i actually got quite into this show, because even though yes it's all staged, these people are stuck in this situation for a month so whatever they do or don't do effects their quality of life for that month
in addition, there are cameras - and for me? that would make me MORE nervous - i'd want to do the right things, and be nervous about the cameras

I enjoy this show. It is a good show even if it is a bit silly at times. Also it looks like their area is bigger this time. Also is in Louisiana so there is plenty of fucked up buildings.

new episode!
George the Architect has plans to build a bellows and show he's not a useless douche!
Two new arrivals, Michael the apocalypse aficionado anatomy teacher (seems kinda spergy) and Amber the big dykey lady lumberjack (bitchy loudmouth)
Jim the Carpenter continues to be kinda nuts but in a lovable way, like an old dog whose gone senile
Shower scene with the model! :winky: Shower designed courtesy of old-ass-black-man... uh... Deville, yeah, him. Good job, Deville.
Lots of stuff going on in this episode, including, at the very end, scavenging an industrial warehouse and getting chased by dudes with cattle prods! Except Jim, lovable senile dog that he is, was swinging some pipes around like a fucking crazy person and I think probably scared the actors with the cattle prods!

Is it weird that they are setting it in Louisiana? I mean, that place is pretty fucked up as is.
It was pretty good.
I hear this one's better. I'll probably watch it when it hits discovery here.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
the best thing about the first one was making crazy science experiment shit out of garbage

it's not like these people are ever in actual danger
so what's the point
but the whole thing is basically a kinda crappy science show combined with a kinda crappy urban wilderness survival show combined with LARPing
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
I watched all of Season One and absolutely adored it. ADORED IT.
Metz i will discuss this with you any time.
Though I can only remember a few parts of Season 1. :S

we should just buy up all those $1 houses Fiz was talking about
One group of fucking nerds that met over the Internet. One real shitty city. A lot of fires and smells.
Will they survive?
I say this because I know there are a couple forumers here who have pitched shows to networks and I think you can help me get this off the ground
There's such a thing as a good Sizzler?
Wait, that's NOT the good Sizzler? :?
thank christ

This show isnt doing it for me, It just does not have that spark, to me, that made the first one great.
