Help with BSOD Issue/Tech Support

I'm having a problem with my computer and possibly w/ my companies tech support and would love and greatly appreciate any advice the more tech-savvy users of this forum can provide me.

I bought a computer for gaming about a year ago from a company (AVAdirect) - I'm already onboard the "build your own comp" train for next time so no need to go there. I've been having the following issue with the computer for the last two months or so:

When playing games (so far I can remember it happening in Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2, Empire Total War, Starcraft 2 and Blood Bowl), I frequently get BSOD with the message "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval". The crash is frequently preceded by the sound in the game going very staticy and distorted (voices slow way down for instance), often it is just a bit of static, then more until over the course of 3 or 4 minutes sound becomes full static and then it hangs.

I contacted the tech support group at the company, figuring I'm under warranty so might as well, and they were fairly responsive. So far I've done the following:

Checked system temp (no problems)
Checked RAM via Memtest
Ran FurMark to check Graphics card
Updated BIOS and drivers
Reinstalled Windows 7 to get fresh OS
Adjusted system RAM speed to default at direction of Tech support
Sent numerous minidump logs in to tech support for analysis - I was told by tech support when I sent three that "From reading the dumps I see when battlefield crashed and it points to a processor issue. The second one says the same and the third is unknown."

So, long story short, after three weeks or so of that I ended up sending the system in for analysis. After they had it for 2 weeks or so they advised that their review had found it was a faulty videocard and they would replace it (no more information). So they mailed the system back with the new video card....and of course, still having the same problem, two crashes already in starcraft 2.

So now, I've contacted them again and they have me sending them the new minidump log, and I'm pretty frustrated. I've googled this plenty and found a whole host of possible issues, but alot of them point to a problem with the processor...combined with what the guy told me in his e-mail about his review of the dump logs, and the stuff I've already ruled out, I'm thinking I should just tell them they need to send me a new processor and I'll install it myself and be done with it, I don't understand why they are beating around the bush on this. I very much don't want to have to pay to again box my comp up, send it in again, and not have it another 3 weeks.

Am I being unreasonable here? I'm pretty pissed off that I went to the trouble of sending this thing in and they apparently didn't even fix it.

I've been having this as well on my Athlon X2 6400. I just decided to frag it. Ordered a new CPU, MB, RAM and video card. My new hardware just showed up today. Hopefully tonight will go smoothly.

I have a Intel Core i7-920 Quad Core, so not the same hardware...judging by our locations maybe it has more to do with living in NOVA than the tech ;)

It's probably a faulty processor. If changing the graphics card didn't fix it then it's either the mobo which has some sort of circuit trace break, or the processor. Either of which the company is probably too lazy to fix and are just writing it off. If you have the means you mght want to go ahead and get your custom computer now - at least you can salvage the graphics card or something.

Sounds like the processor or something on the mobo. Clear the CMOS (check your mobo manual) just for kicks and then call it quits with the mobo and processor unless you have some way to test the processor in another computer or some way to get another CPU to test out.

Thanks for the advice, I'll see what they say, if I can get them to send me a new processor I'll give that a try, I don't think I can sell a new computer purchase to the wife right now unfortunately...

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I did end up getting my computer company to replace my processor but sure enough within an hour of getting the computer back I got the same BSOD issue. So to this point they've replaced the processor and video card and that has not solved the problem. They claim to have tested it extensively at their shop and could not ever reproduce the error, which I get on a nightly basis.

I don't understand what variable I could be missing here...all I have plugged into the comp here at home is a keyboard, a mouse, a microphone (USB), the monitor, the ethernet cable, and a 2 piece speaker. I don't see how any of those could be causing it, but it must be something if they could not reproduce this?

    Does anyone have any advice?

My error went away after upgrading to the new hardware I ordered.

Have you tried disabling your sound card? Other than the mobo that seems to be the only thing that hasn't been looked at. You said sound issues precede the crash. It's possible when they tested they never bothered to turn on sound or something.

I previously tried disabling the sound card w/ no luck...I'll try yanking it out completely but I can't see that making a difference.
