The transition team has drafted a new document of Guiding Principles and New Rules for our community. These rules will go into effect on November 25. 2024.
Coming in March with pirate Orks as the campaign and a mystery new playable race. I'm hoping for the Imperial Guard because that would just be awesome.
On a more current note, I'm trying to play through regular Dawn of War II on primarch difficulty and dear god it's hard. I'm thinking of stepping back a difficulty and starting over.
Tau are young and foolish, the Imperial Guard will crush them under tread and boot. The countless billions will descend upon their sept worlds in finely organized regiments led by fearless generals and the iron will of the commissars.
"Do not ask how you may give your life for the Emperor. Ask instead how you may give your death."
I have waited too long for an orc centered 40K game
and now I get pirates too?
all is well in the world

Tau is best, followed by Imperial Guard
I just wish Dawn of War II was more like the original in multiplayer
I bought that game under the impression that I could build a shitload of Tyranids and have a giant swarm of them overwhelm my enemies but noooo, I can build like three squads of them and that was the cap
What the hell, Relic
I should reinstall Dark Crusade. The Orks in that game had a late game ability where their most basic unit was made free. That's how I wanna play my RTS games
The smaller scale was a pretty bad move, yeah.
I loved the first dawn of war to death and after company of heroes with it's bunkers and barbed wire i was all geared up for a dawn of war 2 with barricades and added defences.
Then they removed base building all together
Dont people like building things anymore?
All this talk of pirate orks sounds very interesting though.
Dawn of War II was a major step back from the first one in the fun department.
I never played multi, but I thought the campaign was fantastic. The last expansion for DoW let me down pretty hard in that area. The one after Dark Crusade.

Oh yeah that expansion was shit but it was also the third one and Dark Crusade was pretty awesome.
I only played the beta of DoW II but it just seemed to me in all the stream-lining they took out a lot of the fun and character the first installment had. I guess enough people I know agreed with me because of all of us DoW fans that were playing the beta together I don't think anyone actually picked the game up after it launched.

Building bases in RTSes is the worst. I want to manage my damn units getting ripped to shreds over here, not worry about optimal traffic flow in my manufacturing district.
Or more precisely, economies in RTSes are the worst. I'd be into slapping down some guard towers and tank-traps at the start of the match and then not worrying about buildings for the rest of it.

I played and loved Dark Crusade, but I thought DoW II was even better (talking single-player here; I'm not much for multiplayer RTS). I don't have the micromanagement skills to control more than about 4 squads effectively anyway, so it was perfect for me.
But without base building you'll have nothing to blow up except for the enemy's generic headquarter style thingy.
For me the best part of dawn of war was capturing an important point and filling it to the brim with turrets so my army could move on.
In dow2 requisition points dont even have guns on em!
Removing guns from things is not an improvement!
I loved DoWII. Basically, I am a sucker for squad based gameplay where you have much more control over your units and where every unit actually matters a lot-

You do realize that the Tau laugh at Titans right?
Doesn;t really matter how many dudes you have in t-shirts when you have shoop cannons everywhere and use, you know, actual battle tactics.

Also it had the Tau who are awesome and I could have like five full squads of Fire Warriors who just tore shit up with their railguns, it was awesome

So I just play them, never had an aptitude for the regular Multiplayer in the game.
But I would have liked basebuilding too
Level 1 characters are not especially fun, but the higher level ones with insane wargear are.
You guys can still build turrets.
You just have to play as a Techmarine, Plague Champion, or a Mekboy
Edit: Guess I'll go play X-Com Apocalypse now.

Still waiting on any of these games to involve Space Wolves somehow, because come on. Space vikings.
Campaign for each race, yes!
