Never gonna understand this whole seeing a movie a bunch of times when there are other movies out there like it's a badge of honor

The only reason somebody should see a film more than two times in theaters is if they're gonna get laid because of it.
I saw Shutter Island 3 times because it got me laid. True story!
I think I saw the first Pirates of the Caribbean 3-4 times in the cinema. Not sure. That movie just filled me with glee, made me grin the stupid grin and was a great excuse for skipping class. Did not get me laid though...

So Camerons point was to try and get 3d to feel more immersive, while all other films use it as an-in-your-face gimmick? True, the (suggested) 3d I've seen so far from the Piranha 3d commicon reel is tried and tested shock your audience, which does make you remember you are watching a movie.
I do hope more films try to use it the way Cameron has used it. That way 3d might find a place beyond the usual genres and sequels and who knows... it might work in things like American Beauty. But Cameron completely fails to grasp the reason why Piranha 3d was made: pure shock and gross entertainment. It uses 3d for a completely different reason and he should not compare the 3d from his movie and feel offended or worry this will be the downfall of what he is trying to achieve. Let it co-exist.

I think one of my eyes is a bit less good than the other
it made some of the 3D in this look blurry until I had time to focus hard
maybe thats normal who knows!

Too bad Cameron was right?
I mean even if you give Piranha 3-D a pass for being what it is (awesome) the vast majority of 3D out there is just a shitty add-on gimmick to drive ticket prices up a few bucks. And it could be so much more than that
3D should be used to immerse audiences ala Avatar when it's appropriate but to suggest that "shock" 3D for genre movies (horror/thriller/etc..) is "cheapening" the medium makes him seem completely out of touch with what the audience and critics (75% RT) enjoy.

Because Piranha was a good movie. But the fact remains that he used it very, very well (with a dumb movie, admittedly) and it isn't being used like that anywhere else.
For the most part 3D is just a terrible gimmick that just cheapens the whole thing.
So, I guess I'm just repeating myself at this point.
I thought it was pretty obvious with the 'spilled drink' gag that the movie wasnt taking its use of 3d seriously, it was making fun of movies which do that. Its weird Cameron doesnt get that. I mean theres room for both. He needs to shut up about it, I keep hearing it from him. We all agree with you on films like Last Airbender, enough! Theres no need for that kind of criticism with piranha.
Also the guys response kinda loses the moral high ground when he goes 'you shouldn't diss my film' then adds in a completely irrelevant criticism of cameron's.
I-is this an Internet first? We all agree on this!
One more day and I finally get to see this film. Cameron might sleep bad if he reads this. To make up for it I might see Piranha 2 today.

But I have. Well.... I have now. Its only out for two days here. And we combined it to see 3 movies in a row. With Machette as a great end of the marathon.
Liked Piranha, buit it felt like half a movie. When the credits started i thought we still had to get a last act. The mayhem was great, but it needed more of a resolution. Loved the winks, the titties and the gore, but I had hoped for some more stranded people to be rescued/stripped to bits after the mayhem.

3d titties, a deepthroating piranha (twice if you think about it) and the doc claiming the piranhas come from another time never gets old.
They better start the sequel right where they left off. And make those fuckers fly!

I never thought Brain Dead was overkill, so there ya go. The third act just missed resolution.
The movie gets all the girls and boys in the water, a good few get out of the water after the piranhas attack and that was it. After that much of a build up.. I just wish they had an original twist for the end. It felt liked it missed something: the escape from the boat felt to easy. The big piranha felt like a great last act: being a thread for all who survied the little ones by climbing on small boats.
Aw well, maybe I was having such a blast I did not want it to be over just yet.
