Viewing Private Messages

Is there a way to see private message exchanges in some sort of linear/threaded form? The default way tends to make initial messages and subsequent replies very disjoint. There's various views for public forum threads, so I was hoping there would be a setting somewhere for PM display that I overlooked.

    You can quote each other while PMing to build up a quote tree.

    I guess I could make due with that. I was hoping there'd be a more elegant solution.
