2010 PAX Mixed Messages story

Greetings PAX people!

I came up with a great idea for PAX last year but never got to make the event. Therefore I'm proposing it for this year.

In short, I want to create the biggest Mixed Message story ever. If you don't know what the game is or how it works, just watch this video:

Basically it's like the old schoolyard game Telephone except with pictures. You go from a sentence, to a picture, to a sentence, and so forth.

The game allows you to play with up to 21 people, but for the purposes of PAX, I'm extending it to everyone I meet until I run out of space. The game stores just over 500 messages, so I can keep this thing rolling for around 470 or so people. Once I reach person 21, I'll copy the message over into a new game and continue going until we run out of space. After all is said and done, I will compile all of the games and edit them into one long video to put on youtube for everyone to enjoy.

My goal here is to get people to join in the fun. I'll be around all weekend as was hoping to meet up with some interested people that want to contribute.

Personally, I think this would be completely and totally awesome, especially considering the varied (and quite sick) mindsets of the PAX attendees.

Update! I'm going to be at the Nintendo booth on Saturday at noon. Ask for Ben, MNC Dover, Dover, or Mixed Messages guy. If you see me walking around, feel free to stop me and ask to get included. There will only be room for about ~470 people so make sure to get into the first ever PAX Mixed Messages event!

Whelp, looks like I'll be having to ask people at random to join the game. That could be just as fun.

Since you didn't give a way to identify yourself, I figured that asking people at random was your plan. I'd track you down and play a round if I knew how to find you.

Hmmmm...you bring up a good point. It would be pretty tough to pick me out of a crowd, so how about I meet anyone in the expo hall on Saturday at noon till about 1:00. I'll set up shop near the Nintendo booth and be will be wearing a black "shoryuken" shirt. After that it'll be asking random people on the fly.

Ask for Dover, MNC, Ben, or the Mixed Messages guy.

The game has no wireless functionality. People will just draw/write on my DSi. This should help reduce the amount of wang spamming encountered, but being PAX, wangs will be inevitable.

Again, I'll be at the Nintendo booth on Saturday at noon wearing a black shirt that says "Shoryuken" on it. As for Ben, MNC Dover, Dover, or Mixed Messages guy. If you can find me before or after that, feel free to join in the fun.

I don't know how public you want this "event" to be but maybe put it up as an event on facebook or twitter. I know I'll forget by next Saturday (hopefully I'll remember to check the forums at least before I go)

I'd actually like it to be a big event, but I thought about it so late that I'll be surprised if there is a big turnout. Maybe I'll use this as a 'beta' for a bigger showing of it next year.

I do have a friend who can spread the word via Twitter/Facebook. Thanks for the suggestion and I'll see you next week.
