I could use some more advice on DQ3. I'm just to the point where I'm going into Baramos' castle and the monsters there wreck my shit. Everyone is level 29 except for my Sage who is level 24. I'm kind of regretting that class change now. Anyway how do I progress here? Just run from everything and hope to kill Baramos? Grind somewhere? I don't mind grinding if that's what it takes.
I'd have to make everyone a Jester first, and that doesn't sound like a recipe for win. And I'd be looking at something like 45 levels of Sage to get all the spells.

Fast enough casters (equip meteorite bracer) can kill metal things by turning into a dragon, making leveling trivial.
But yes, unlike the NES version no unlimited free sage scrolls. Goof oofs level fast though.
also, why is one of my party member's frames in purple, the main character green, and the other two grey? Is this something I did when making them without realizing it?

One more dungeon, more or less. If you're having problems, try using a priest and Rotstopper. It works a treat on that boss.
The colours are set in the tactics menu. They're just personal touches you can add, they don't mean anything else.

The shop accepted the cartridge, and claims to have replaced the battery. Brought it home to test, and ...
No sound.
I have now spent most the evening trying to determine why this has suddenly failed. It's beyond simple coincidence. First the console dies, then the battery, then the sound fails? On a famicom, which nobody reports sound issues with?
I know it was working a couple of weeks ago, when I was playing Legend of Zelda. I am equally sure that was after my last major change to the equipment.
Do you recall offhand where the meteorite bracer is? I heard from an NPC that it's supposedly in Isis but after a cursory search I didn't find it.
Going off older memories, but:
In Isis castle, you should be able to get behind the row of pillars by the entrance. Follow one of the paths through the door, and then follow that hallway. You'll find a chest with it. A ghost or skeleton or something will ask if you're the one that opened the chest. Be honest. :P
Thanks Blackjack. That was exactly right. Now as soon as I get someone with BeDragon I can farm Metal Babbles/Metabbles. I'd like to laugh at Zoma and maybe even do some of the optional postgame stuff.
I know in the GBC version there's a guy at the Dharma temple that will change names for you.
In DW3 is there any place with a big concentration of Metal Babbles/Metabbles? I can find a couple once in a while around Rimuldar but they almost always run away before I can even get a hit on them.
Defeat Metal Slime Knight (#75), Metal Medley (#89), Liquid Metal
Slime (#153), Gem Jamboree (#207), Metal King Slime (#214),
Slionheart (#215), Platinum King Jewel (#229) and Prime Slime (#252).
The quest may be ugly, but this week's sale theme is beautiful. The other half of the weapons, and my first day netted the Meteorang, the Bad Axe and the Angel Bow. No complaints here.
The quest guide on Gamefaqs, it has all the DLC quests listed too as well as the date they're unlocked. Since he said it was todays, I checked to see what quest was unlocked today.
I had the Hero(46), a career Warrior(44), a Cleric->Sage(41) and a Jester->Sage(36). I benched a Thief after about 35 levels. I don't know if I'm going to play the post-game content but if I do I'm thinking about changing my higher-level Sage into a Fighter.
Only one class per character, invisible equipped items, no quests, and as far as I'm aware an endgame that consists of a single dungeon?
Polish comes at a cost. Sometimes quite an extreme one.
-Class system vs no class system is a stylistic choice. Neither is inherently superior over the other.
-VIII had visible gear. All weapons and shields had their own graphics. And there was a whole costume system for Jessica, and one for the Hero.
-IX's "endgame", as great as it was, still boils down to "randomly generated dungeon with X tileset, Y enemy list, and Z boss. Maybe they could bring back the legacy boss system, but personally I wouldn't be that impressed unless they did something new with it.
End result: There's nothing really magically special about handheld IX that they can't do with console X.

Hello, i know i'm a bit late to the party even though i have been tracking it since it started, and i would just like to say a few things.
1) If DQ10 is anything like Viii, i will be happy.
2) If there is an option to turn random battles on/off, i will be doubly happy.
And 3) If there is a monster areana on top of all this (and i know that the wii has the capabilities to do this because the PS2 did), i will be triply happy.
If anyone wants to say what they think should be in dq10, and what shouldn't, please post a reply

Yeah, he had it right, turns out that the quest I was talking about was some other random quest that had been there the whole time that I hadn't noticed before.
So there's a video of the new DQMJ2 Professional release, with the new DQ9 bosses in it. Some crazy stuff in there, including some example breeding combos on how to get the DQ9 guys: http://www.dqm-j2.com/professional/movie/
But my favorite? Liquid Metal Slime King. He's the size of Gozilla. And can fly.
And why, pray tell, can he fly?
Because running away at lightspeed in merely TWO dimensions was for chumps!
Close seconds: The Rocket Slime tank, whose name escapes me, as well as what looks like an Evil Gundam Slime. Yes.

in DQ9. How much farther do I have to go?
My party is:
Lv. 35 Ranger
Lv. 37 Martial Artist
Lv. 33 Paladin
Lv. 36 Mage

Wow, uh. That's a bit hard, I imagine.

Yeak, every friday it's aoutomatic.
Also, got my first Alchemiracle! Hypernova Sword!
My sage just hit level 41, learning the last spell. I haven't finished the game yet. Should I make her into a Fighter now?
I WIN BITCH!
Do I start right away on DQ4 on the DS or take a break? WHO KNOWS! Damn I'm pumped.
There's a good possibility that having X be a 'full' console game will result in it being worse in many ways.

Not impossible to implement well but I'd be willing to bet that DQ X is a more traditional experience again.
