something where a story of some sort is getting told. i like yelling shit at people, and for the most part many people have made a point to tell me they like me yelling at them. there could be something to this. not looking at it egocentric wise, so much as owning something as a talent

i sometimes think that writer's block should probably apply more to people actually in the writer's game

once i actually do something, become established or whatever then sure i'd define it as a lack of ideas or will to follow through in spite of having followed through before

I can never remember who was responsible for the quote but I always thought "if you don't get ideas, you are dead. Good luck being dead" summed up my feelings on the nebulous concept of writer's block

It's used too often as a crutch by procrastinating dudes grasping at straws to justify their lack of output

I'm pretty sure if I was to have an hour free, I could get my brain pointed in the right direction and produce something worthwhile

And, again, I could've spent this morning writing instead of checking the forums and my emails. Will I never learn

I've found writer's block is solved in one of two ways - you sit down, start writing the first idea that comes to your head, and it turns out shit but you burn through it anyway to the good stuff; or, you sit down, start writing the first idea that comes to your head, and it turns out lovely. Either way you have to sit down and scribble something.

    -learn bass
-grow an actual beard + dreads
-get fit + active, 6 pack optional

Is the UK really that bad? I see pictures of it and am pretty impressed with how interesting it looks. Having actual villages and shit, rather than suburbs sprawling out to infinity. Stone walls! Hills! Fog! It's a cool looking place.

I dunno if you realize this, but the UK has plenty of of urban/suburban sprawl, they just don't show you that in the pretty tourism pictures.

depends entirely where you are in the UK

as you go more central/northern it gets extremely built up

then you have places like the Lake Districts, Snowdon and the scottish highlands

Oh, that's something I want to do.

    Not go bald.

I think it might be a little late, though, my hair is definitely thinning. Pretty soon I'll just start doing the shaved head look.

I guess I could clarify on what TYPE of photographer I want to be

Obviously, the type who gets paid to shoot

But I want to get paid to shoot senior and teen portraits, kids, families, and couples.

Mostly seniors and teens. They are the most fun, for sure.

this might be right up your alley then,

these are friends of the family, i've known them a good 10-15 years
so i guess if you want some people in the biz to ask questions to, etc
i can set that up if you want.

I know a ton of photographers

It's the whole getting-started thing that's got me stuck

Once I've got senior reps, for example, I know what to do, but it's GETTING those senior reps that has me totally lost. I don't know any high schoolers!

    or did

call local high schools, see if you can work with them to get your name out or something

    i dunno

I put out a Facebook ad, hasn't seemed to garner anything (yet), but it's got a few more days left to run so cross your fingers for me

I'm also planning on heading over to the high school behind my house and seeing if they'll let me put up business cards or somesuch. They don't seem to have a dedicated senior photographer (except for those boring-ass drape-and-tux shots, everyone's got one of those photogs). So we'll see?

AMP'd - Yeah that's pretty much how it works. :P
