Laptop won't boot after "froced" shutdown
My sister brought me her husbands laptop that will not boot after a "forced" shutdown. I think she just held the power button down.
It is an odd laptop. The only identifier I can find on it is MODEL NO MS-17172B. Google doesn't bring up much about this but I think it is an MSI motherboard.
When you hit the power button it lights up and the CD-ROM blinks and will open if you push the button. I can not get it to boot off of a CD.
There is also what I must assume is a Sleep light (Has a moon by it) is lit up amber. There is also a wireless button that I can push and it will cycle through a few light combinations. Doesn't seem to do anything.
I get nothing on the screen, the back light is not even on. I have tried plugging this into an external monitor and got nothing also. I can hear a quiet fan but it doesn't seem to be the main fan.
I have even pulled the power, battery, and removed the RAM and can't even get a memory error beep.
I'm running out of ideas on this thing. I'm starting to think I'm screwed after the RAM test. Anybody got any other ideas to try?

Is it a single stick of RAM or multiple? If it's multiple, have you tried booting with just one stick in at a time?
It's 2 sticks. Tried with just one and tried with none. I get the same result on both counts.
I feel like the BIOS needs reset but I can't find a way to do it. I know I remember some laptops having a tiny button that you need a paperclip to reset them. I can't find anything like that on this one. I've taken it apart a little way to try to find the CMOS battery but I'm having no luck there either.

I have this same exact laptop, I recognize the model number. It is an MSI laptop (which I will never buy again), and has been sitting in my closet for almost a year. Have you been able to figure anything out on this? Mine ran hot and kinda think it just overheated and killed the board.

Tried that. It's not a VGA but it does have a DVI. Got nothing.
