Anyone else with me on the fact that we need a good PA android app that is mainly forum based? Forums and mobile browsers are never friendly and while the android browser renders the page fine and it loads it quickly its just too damn hard to type cause the page moves when you enter letters.
Im going to look into making an app myself, although that will require me to learn java so I figured I'd ask if anyone has heard any rumblings of a user on here making such an app?
I can view and post on the forums just fine on my iPhone.
I can view and post just fine on my nexus one, but as was proven with the XDA forum app its just easier to have a custom app. They load faster and look cleaner and there is no need to zoom in or out. Im posting these with my phone using firefox.

On my iPhone, I would love to have an app that could choose not to load avatars/sigs, or pics of any kind, and have all the formatting already loaded up etc.

Thats the kind of stuff im talking about. A dedicated forum app would let you choose your settings so if you just wanted all out speed it would only load the basics.
I dont know whats exactly possible on the iphone but I know on an android phone you can edit the host file so if you want to block things like avatars and sigs you can. I'd imagine you would need to jailbreak your phone first and then use a file explorer to get into the root directory of the system and then use a notepad like app to open the host file. It has to be possible cause the iphone uses a host file, getting to it for editing is the tricky part.
I saw that and its a great idea but a dedicated customizable app would still be faster and better looking than going through a 3rd party side. I dont want to be using the browser at all for this because speed and formatting are the ultimate goal here.

One, it uses the browser and just wraps it in a shell. Two, its not for android...yet.
Either way, I think the difficult part will be having alphamonkey or Ramius install something server-side, because without that you're going to be pulling apart HTML and that's going to suck.

Yeah.
Although...! You could probably make things a bit better by applying a custom stylesheet. It's probably doable without having to touch things server side, but I'm not really sure how easy mobile web browsers make that to do.

Also, you might want to look around in the Administrative forum up at the top, there's a thread about this stuff in there somewhere, I think.
Yep.
