Guys, I have a date on Friday. Should I see Pan's Labyrinth or Children of Men?

She is down for either, and I'm torn as well.

Scarlet you're dragging the forum in circles.

There is some sudden and D: violence in both.

I liked Pan's more (slightly), but I would not recommend taking her to it unless you're sure she has no illusions about it.

To wit, it is not a happy-go-lucky fairy tale. It is extremely dark, violent, and depressing.

I should add that most of the people I've talked to about it IRL have all said the same thing, "It was nothing like I expected."

And that could very much work against you if date-girl is expecting a lush and magical spectacle, and not a brutal study of the horrors of war and the loss of innocence.

I have a feeling that we won't be leaving the theater depressed after Children of Men, but I'm basing that entirely off of the trailer.

I do believe it has been decided unless someone makes a more convincing argument sometime between now and Friday

(01:25:57) Kristine: yeah, Pan's Labyrinth looked amazing, the picture and scenes...but I think I'm favoring Children of Men

yeah, go with the ladies choice.
Not to be a nice guy, but so if she hates it and it sucks, she can't blame you and go to her friends talking about how you're twisted and you like weird, sad, shitty movies.

I just think it would be a more "date oriented" movie than children of men, if you want to go by that.

But if thats not a concern, just flip a coin.

Are you saying you're applying to a job at ta gay bar or are you referencing the Electric Six song "Gay Bar"
Either way, watching the video for that song is mandatory. Seriously, best thing ever.

I wasn't aware that it was ever cool. I'm still the lone Electric Six fan in my tristate area.
