So, I've got my PS2 setup near my PS3 which is setup near my TV. Since I've gotten used to the wireless PS3 controller, I was thinking of buying a wireless PS2 controller for ease of use. I don't really see how else i'm going to play my PS2 since the wiring done for my flatscreen, which is mounted on the wall btw, runs through a plastic wiring tube to the TV ports making it so that I don't have any wires dangling on the walls. While this is good in decoration purposes, it also makes the PS2 stay where it is. I don't have long enough cables to pull it from the place it is in to the coffee table near the sofa. So that why I need a wireless PS2 controller.
Using my Google-fu skills I came up with this site: http://www.nextag.com/ps2-wireless-controller/stores-html which lists some of the controllers as well as the EBGames website which lists one controller as well. So which brand would you recommened? I'd rather not pay $45 bucks for a vikings controller from Mad Katz, so something which is good and reasonable. What do you guys use?
Is it powered by batteries or is it re-chargeable ala the PS3 controller?
Two AA batteries. I just use two pairs of AAs and keep one charging while one is in use, then when one pair is out I switch it out with the charged pair.
I'm not sure there exists a really good PS2 wireless game controller with its own built-in rechargeable battery pack. But I do see the occasional PS2 controller that has the plug-in to recharge thing.
Hmm Yeah these gamepads used to be really common just about everywhere but it doesn't look like it's stocked as much any more. Shame because it's a really good pad and I'm pretty sure even Sony officially licensed it. It's got a comfortable ergonomic shape and a sturdy feel to it, a long battery life, great wireless connection (no drops/lag), and you can enable/disable force feedback.
