The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The first Dead Rising gave us the ability to pick up literally any and every object in the world and using them to beat thousands upon thousands of zombies into bloody bits. It was everything you could ever want out of a zombie game, how could you add to that?
Well those devious bastards at Capcom have done it, Dead Rising 2 features the groundbreaking new gameplay innovation of being able to take 2 objects and duct tape them together, creating all new monstrous zombiekilling tools.
Also I guess there's some multiplayer or something this time around? Anyway there's a sort of prologue chapter thing on Xbox Live called Case Zero that you can check out and it's amazing. It's everything I loved about the first game but better.
Dammit, I found that construction helmet once in Case Zero but couldn't find it again, I want to make a beer hat!
I pre-ordered this from the UK a couple of days ago since I won't be able to play the US/CA version on my 360, it comes out there a few days earlier too so I'm hoping it will get here sooner! I played Case Zero through about 4 or 5 times so I'm pretty excited for DR2.
what i hate is that you pretty much had to play the game for an hour, start over, play for another hour, start over, play for another hour, etc in order for it to not suck

that's not true!
I only restarted once my first time through.
And if you finish Case Zero you keep the levels/money/combo cards from it when you start DR2

I got the retail store one... I don't want that one... this makes grath an angry grath.. I already paid off my pre-order completely in full.
Where'd you get it? GameStop?
Because they (and I imagine, other stores) will give you a full refund back if you cancel your pre-order
I pre-ordered it at this little local store that opened a few months back. The owners are also the only employees for the store. Dude was all super excited to be getting pre-orders on this and yeah he'll give me a refund but I'd feel bad for asking so I might just end up getting a second copy of the game and telling my brother "happy birthday"

I was kind of apathetic about DR2 despite loving the first one until I played Case Zero
So it did its job?
Did it well.
one of them does
there are two!
this is the one that will be released in retail stores
the other one is only available through capcom's store

It's on the roof across from the hotel
i just wanted the mega man suit but it takes forever to get
i kinda want to play DR2 but i don't know
complete, complete opposite for me
I really really really wanted to love the first one. I gave it plenty of chances.
but all it seemed to do was make me angry.
I figure the second one is a clean slate and hopefully won't have the niggles.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
which is kind of annoying, but when I can darth maul the fuck out of some zombies with a chainsaw paddle I can forgive some quirks
but drill bucket?
man
i got some thinking to do
because they didn't change much
well if it makes you feel better the poker one's 10 bucks more and they'd charge you shipping
Oh it has the niggles
The awesome niggles
The only thing they really changed that people find annoying (for some reason) is it has multiple save slots now. Also firearms are now fun to use!
But it still doesn't have a checkpoint save system
And it still encourages restarting the game with saved stats
Psychopaths will still likely be absurdly hard unless you go in prepared
These are all great things.
oh man, were you around when mike started to play that
sometimes he'd drive around and run over zombies for forty minutes at a time
SO MUCH RAGE

yeah i was
goddammit
what i hate is that you pretty much had to play the game for an hour, start over, play for another hour, start over, play for another hour, etc in order for it to not suck
and it sucks because I had broken into the police station and gotten a bunch of guns but wasted them all fucking around
i was the same way but it has co op so i'm getting it

guhdemmit

you can make a nail bomb with the stuff in the safehouse
though I guess a gun to set it off with would help
But you can get shit lots of cash
The extra life bar and inventory slot help so much.
the first thing I made was the nail bomb
but it's fucking useless without a gun
finding a gun and setting that thing off became my mission
and I succeeded.
Also I wore my beer helmet constantly

you don't though
having a couple extra levels just makes the first part of the game slightly more forgiving
Well, if you don't suck, it's certainly possible to do it all in one go-through
The broadsword is tops
Well, it's not gonna mow through dudes like the paddlesaw but It will take out clumps for sure if you aim it a little.
oh man yes
I was so excited when I found that thing
Find three books and a couple broadswords and take out a thousand zombies, mini chainsaw style
Which is annoying because all the other combos are amazing fun.
Yeah you're right I'm bad at this game
If only developers could somehow find a way to lower or raise the difficulty based on the players skill level..
