So I'm color-blind. I've known this since I was in pre-school. I'm not severely color-blind, and in most aspects of life it hasn't been an issue. Recently I was inspired to do some investigation do determine the exact nature of my color-blindness.
[spoiler:1a2615fbfc]"Little Miss Sunshine" - I saw the "A" on the card as clear as day[/spoiler:1a2615fbfc]
So I turned to Wikipedia, and from there I got links to some color-blindness tests. My question is, are these things legit? Are they effective when viewed on an LCD monitor? I ask because the cards are giving me very inconsistent results. For example, on card number 6, I can't make out anything resembling a number, but I KNOW I'm not totally color-blind. Can anyone out there actually see a "15" on card number 6?
The most useful cards seem to be #16 and #17, which suggest that I have either protanopia or strong protanomalia. Does anyone out there with normal color vision see the cards' real numbers?
i can totally read all of those numbers. except the ones only colorblind people can read (thats crazy, btw...its driving me nuts because i can't see the number on card 15)..
other than that, i know nothing of colorblindness. sorry.
I am not color blind, and am seeing the 15 on six so no issues there. It is somewhat harder to see than most so it may just be an annoying screen.
Others work fine (ie I see what they say), but I would say that there is a small difference in 16 and 17 and I am unaffected by others. So if it is really minor I am thinking that is not an issue.
My screen is a Macbook btw.
Edit: locopostal I am the same way. I almost think if I were to study it enough I could make it go out. But thats likely just because I would become color blind.

How can they expect me to have a sig when I am too lame to upload an avatar after 2 ye- oh wait...
The nature of your screen will introduce innacuracies to the test. Even in my psychology book that has a section on color blindness and about 18 different cards printed in it, I could faintly see the numbers a few of the color-blind-only cards (not all of them though). Not nearly as clear as the ones as I was supposed to see, but I could see them.
The book also said they were reproductions and not the real thing so they wouldn't be accurate tests.
If you want to know 100% for sure what "brand" of color blindness you have, see an optometrist/ophthalmologist. They give me a color blindness test every time I go.
Okay, so apparently I have protanomaly, which is NOT the most common form of color-blindness. That's probably why my results are so messed up on the cards that do not specifically test for protanomaly. While most color-blind people see less intense greens, I see less intense reds. Good to know.
