To Do: To Do List

Are there any (good) free to do list programs out there for desktops?

Ideally what I would like is a program that I can:

a) Set tasks with a little description with a date/time deadline.
b) Have it automatically email me a reminder at that time (so I get the reminder on my phone).

(a) is good enough for now, but if there's anything out there with (a+b), that would be amazing. I'm basically just looking for recommendations.

If you have Office, Outlook is excellent at this. You can also turn an email into a task with a click, which is really handy.

You can have just tasks, tasks with due dates, tasks with reminders, emails turned into tasks, etc etc.

I believe VueMinder Calendar will do what you are asking. I use it on my pc as a calendar and what not, but it can do all of those things you are talking about I believe.

You know, I totally forgot about Outlook. I have Microsoft Office 2010 Beta installed here, but I use gmail (and prefer the gmail web client to Outlook) so I haven't loaded it up in forever. Maybe I'll take a look.

I shall check that out as well, thanks.

Gmail has tasks too, though I'm not really familiar with them so I dont know if it's anything more than a basic to do list.

GMail has tasks that integrate with the Calendar; click on tasks on the left. I'm not sure if you can do email notifications.

    It can do email notifications
When you make an event, go down to reminders. You can have it pop up or email you.
