So I'm trying to finally catch up on a bunch of classics I haven't watched. You know, the stuff you can't call yourself a movie guy if you haven't seen them.

I finally watched Casablanca and Dr. Strangelove.

Although Casablanca was a good movie and I liked the point of the whole thing I fail to understand why it is number 1 on so many lists. Beautifully shot though.

Dr. Strangelove, however, was just awesome. I will probably watch it again and get other people to watch it.

Please suggest to me a movie-viewing curriculum.

    Casablanca is great because schlocky propaganda will never be that well put together or fun ever again.

    I've seen Ghostbusters and Citizen Kane already.

    One thing I'm confused about in Strangelove:
    Was the doomsday device (which I thought was a very cool idea), actually on the Russian ambassador's clock? What was going on there?

    The Dollars Trilogy, especially the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

    Hell, just watch anything with Clint Eastwood in it.

    I've seen all the Clint Eastwood westerns. I don't feel like I need to see them again and perhaps I am a product of this information age but I just can't handle that sort of pace anymore. I saw Once Upon a Time in the West and although I liked it and there are excellent things going on, it's just way too damn slow.

    Them and War of the Worlds for classic Sci-fi

    True Grit for westerns

    Death Wish and Dirty Harry for modern shoot um ups
