I'm terrible at math. However, at work, every day I have to do basic math to measure how big something needs to be and I design ads for it. My co-worker gave me some measurements, and after I double checked them, our numbers did not add up.
We had two glass panes I had to design an ad for: 3 feet high and 5'7" wide. He says "the total width is 11'4""
I can see how he got it. 5'.7" x 2 = 11'.4" = 136"
My math says 5' = 60" + 7" = 67" x 2 = 134"
I know mine is correct, but why is his wrong?

5'7" x 2 is not 11'4". There are 12 inches in a foot, not 10.
