Two problems.
1) The game crashes infrequently. Doesn't not appear to be any one key action that causes it. The error message is a "resc10" error, which appears to be a lack of memory error. I turned down the settings and this seems to have fixed it.
However, now I'm seeing the occasional weird graphic artifact. I was hoping maybe the memory leak thing would be fixed by...
2)...installing the patch. After I install the patch, I can't start the game anymore. I actuate the GTA IV icon, the RSC shit pops up, click "play" (or "play offline", makes no difference), the windows pointer shows the "accessing CD" icon (the little CD picture), then the "accessing HD" icon (the blue ouroborous circle in superscript to the pointer)...then nothing. GTA doesn't start and no rockstar programs (not even rsc) are shown active in task manager.
So, anyone run into this before? Any suggestions? Right now I'm going to uninstall/reinstall the game (again!), then just play with the shitty artifacts.
I'm running this on Windows 7, fully updated.
