A good friend of mine made this for the GT sweepstakes going on(for a free PS3!). He's a Communications major at my high school. Oh, and this video is Snake returning home to his mom and sister. I stress that only MGS fans watch this, and have played Snake Eater.
Tell me what you think, or if you have a GT account leave a comment:
That was pretty mediocre. The pacing needs some serious retuning, but besides that, satire isn't as easy as it looks. This is a prime example of what not to do.
He's a Senior in high school, don't expect it to be quick.
More importantly, how the hell do you have a major in high school?
Our high school is a vocational tech school. There's about 6 different "majors" you can apply to with different curriculum to go into blue-collar work(or white-collar, for health occ.).
Mocking me isn't really funny, dude. I just put because I want to .
Jeez. Some of you are coming across as real elitist douchebags.
While I agree that making a thread just for this was kind of lame, the video is actually pretty well done. Got a few chuckles out of me. Better than 90% of the garbage on Youtube and shit. Fucking gay anime music videos and narcissistic "bloggers."
It's cute that he used his family to do it, too. I like to see that kind of thing.

I'll be sure to let my friend know through the grapevine about all your positive comments. We(as in the group he hangs out with) are going to try to make him do a sequel but with all of us in it instead.

That's your barometer? Man.
It wasn't funny. The beauty of asking for criticism online is that you don't have your friends and family there to placate you even if what you made isn't great. Provided the responses are mature and not like the Youtube variety, what else do you want?
The Gamers is a fair example of gaming satire done well on no budget.
If you make a sequel, get the pace up so there's less dead time. When possible, faster cuts and more interesting sound can help. Oh, and the contrast on the picture, it was pretty low in the low light scenes. It's a minor technical detail but it's really easy to fix in most video editing programs.
This video had a lot of good ideas and would be way funnier if it were, say, half its current length. With a pace of one gag per minute, seven minutes was pushing it, especially when something, like crawling after the dog, misses the mark.
I think it needs a lot of polish. Many of the cuts weren't as clean as they could be, and the graphic word looked a bit shoddy. As expected, the acting was sub-par, which really puts a damper on a video for me.
Also, I agree with everyone else in that it was far too slow-paced.
Holy crap, I didn't even notice. That was my first hang out too...*sigh* (horrible) memories.

I thought it was pretty good. Most scenes had at least one funny part. But like others have said, it runs a bit long. It could probably be cut down to 2/3 of its current length, and it would be way more interesting. The other thing I would change is to use more sound clips of Snake (like grunting) instead of your friend's not-nearly-as-gruff voice.
I think this could've been better if it used sound clips from the game more often, because the main problem with this was it was slow and quiet.
Or have Snake give a monologue on how taking out the garbage isn't important when you're on the battlefield.
But I actually liked the box part, and the dog chasing was kinda funny too.
It's his first attempt and, it's a lot better than I'd expect from him in regards to video-making.

Didn't mean to come off as too critical. As someone in high school, I can tell you that this is like 100% better than what most of the other people in that age range would have done (normally it just turns into them all laughing at their own jokes and beating each other up at the end of every scene.)

I'm not trying to defend requested criticism, I'm just laying down some facts.

Funny vid, too.
And besides, we have double standards about sitewhoring here already...

It could also be that he's half-asian and loves making fun of stereotypes.
it was funny... sort of, I dunno
But the dinner part was funny.
The pace was too slooowwww though. Not enough happens fast enough.
Oh no, this thread is not going at all as planned.
Why doesn't snake talk at all?

The video was amusing, I chuckled a couple times.

About the only thing I enjoyed besides the box part and the dinner table ration face!

Shows good promise though.

I agree with whoever said it was too slow. There were one or two good chuckles and the rest was just boring.
