What is it?
Simexchange is a browser based stock exchange simulation, with video games and consoles as a commodity. It is designed to be a simple simulation of how the stock market works. Data is aggregated from game sales numbers and the stock prices fluctuate accordingly.
How do I play it?
When starting out, you are give a lump sum of $1 million simexchange dollars. You are then free to invest it however you like on video games/consoles stocks that you think will sell well in the market. Think Halo 3 will live up to its hype? Buy it up now before the price rises. Think the PS3 will crash and burn? Short sell it all you want. For all the fanboys who go: ROFLOL PS3 SUX00R j00!!!!. Put your (virtual) money where your mouth is and see if your console does well comparatively.
Where do I start?
1. Go to the Simexchange website and register for an account.
2. Fill up the details and you're ready to play.
3. Optional: If you'd like to refer me, my account is Kaiserblack.
4. Happy investing.
My thoughts:
Simexchange is pretty darn fun and easy to pick up. It's pretty interesting to see how a market works and the influence hype can have on the price of a stock. Its not a perfect simulation by any means. There are many game stocks which are not yet available, and I feel some rules need to be changed to further simulate a real stock market. Its still an interesting game and gives you an incentive to participate in the community and keep up on gaming news.
