Roaches immortals and BCs are all awesome fucking units.
Well when it was just my army of roaches for defense, the immortals and BCs weren't quite so awesome.
By far our biggest problem was if the other team just spammed counters to our guys. Usually marauders/marines and some sort of air units, since our only AA was BCs.

Your build lacks aoe!
I swapped to banelings for one game against three terrans, but they just went viking/banshee and destroyed us
I've been reading for a while, and to Joe's not being promoted situation I don't recall his total number of points being mentioned yet. I think he's skilled enough in the system's eyes to be moved to Silver, but do you think with 1300+ points that number 1 rank is the only place to go, so perhaps he's not skilled enough to the system to be promoted to number 1 in Silver? Same for gold.

We discussed it a few pages ago and the prevailing opinion coming from nearly everyone except for Joe is that he isn't winning enough games against people with an MMR higher than his own, or winning enough games against people with an MMR lower than his.
If the system were trying to place him as rank anything silver, he'd be currently playing games against predominantly Silver league players. He isn't. MMR and point totals are not directly related, so he probably needs to start winning games against people who the system considers "better" than him in order to get promoted.
Anyone who wants to sign up for the tourney should. You get in more games that are likely to be against decent opponents and if you lose you're not out anything (you're not taking a ladder score hit) and you can find people of various races and skill levels to practice with.
corrupters are an all around bad unit. I wish broodlords morphed from mutas.
They facerape colossi.
and they are pretty useful against phoenix too. better than mutas at least.
what air-to-air unit is the phoenix better than?
Phoenix are abusive against mutas (and completely shut down ravens/banshees). They do surprising well against vikings too. A phoenix will actually beat a viking at even upgrade levels, while being twice as fast and way more flexible. (In practice though, viking hunting isn't viable due to terran ground support.) If it weren't for reactors and how much more gas intensive protoss is, I'd say that phoenixes are strictly superior to vikings.
The bug with them really, really sucks though.
Edit: Put another way, if terrans had phoenix instead of vikings, every other race would be completely boned.
Every other race is already completely boned against terran :-)
I keep hearing that Phoenix shut down mutas, but I haven't seen it in action. And I didnt think that phoenix's would beat vikings straight up... I mean, that would make them the strongest light anti-air, air unit in the game, and it just doesn't feel that way, although, i barely use them, and have often been wrong before.
(and ravens/banshees/broodlords dont count - they can't shoot back)
Phoenix can literally go 2-on-1 against mutas and win. Like, a fight of 6 phoenixes vs 10 mutas means the mutas need to GTFO and pray backup can get there in time. The biggest drawback to phoenixes is the freaking stargate, which many view as the weakest path for protoss. It also doesn't help that phoenixes come out of the same building as VOIDRAYS, which have the "oh shit, didn't expect that now I lose!" ability.
Phoenixes don't win games; they help you not lose them. They shut down every type of harassment (except maybe zergling runbys). And they let you scout and harass. Essentially, they contract the enemies play field to the very narrow option of trying to smash their army against your army. The only downside is that if you're getting phoenixes, their army will be bigger and more smashy than yours.
I've heard that if you can micro the phoenixes extremely well, you can play skeet shooting supporting a majority stalker army...
I've heard good things, never been able to do them - i mean, i've built 4 and went peon harassing... but thats about my experience. And yes, when your two choices are Phoenixes, and LOLRays (which are a surprisingly good kicker to a push army), well, the VRs win the click every time.
I've found the phoenix to be a pretty sweet unit. I'm sure if my micro was better, I could do more fun things with them.
An army with a flock of phoenix and a mothership would be terribly entertaining.

For anyone worrying about not being good enough (RABBIT!) for this tournament should not look at it as something you have to win.
So what if you get paired against someone like DMR first? You will lose, thats right, but you know what you will gain? A replay of someone that knows what they are doing better than you do. You can watch that replay and go "Oh man, I only made 29 drones that game? He had 52! I need to make more drones" or you will be watching and be saying "Why haven't I built my queen/chronoboosted/called down MULE yet? And what the hell?! BUILD A DAMN PYLON YOU IDIOT!" You will watch this replay, see your errors and realize that if you didn't make those errors you would have beaten someone much better than you. And the next couple games you play you will make more drones and will not get supply blocked as much, and you will be a better player for it.
Tournaments are great for making you a better player. I played in the tournament last week and Lost against DMR 1st round. I mean he destroyed me with a 2 Immortal Timing push, no contest. Sometimes that happens, I just didn't prepare for his push. No biggie. Then I played a Zerg player (Forgot who it was, sorry!) and I felt I had the advantage most of the game. I was building a better Muta ball and was killing off his mutas and getting good harass in on his drones. Except I forgot to build Ling/Blings and he rolled me with like 50 lings. I felt like an idiot, but I will never forget to make Ling/Blings in ZvZ anymore thats for damn sure.
I went 0-2 and out. But the very next day went to a Local LAN Tournament, took with me the lessons I learned from that Saturday night and took 2nd Place. My Semi-Final match I beat a good Zerg player that had beaten another good Zerg player because I still had that fresh ZvZ loss in my mind from the night before.
TL: DR; You're not good enough for this tournament? BULL SHIT! Stop being a bitch and sign up. (If you can make it! I don't want to commit this saturday night to it)

I'd love to play, it's more of a timing thing than a fear thing. Saturday is NYCC. But if these are a weekly thing, hopefully I'll be able to show up eventually.
I have precisely zero problems losing. It's actually helped my game quite a bit. Rather than worry about whether my opponent is going to march up my ramp and skull fuck me, I can concentrate on things like keeping my build smooth and making sure I don't get supply blocked.

I think that was me, heh. I felt pretty lucky when I managed to get you with those lings, because you had so many more mutas. It was scary.
I'm going to a Blizzard portfolio review at 8pm tonight. Wading through a sea of Wow, SC2, and WC3 geeks just to listen to how not to get your portfolio looked at. I'm willing to bet a large majority of the college students around me take nothing away from the show.
God help us if they have a Q&A session.

MorroW has decided to switch to Zerg full-time once he's completed ongoing/upcoming tournaments.

Maybe he got bored of Terran and wanted to play the other race as something interesting? I know that when I get tired of playing Proto.... I mean clowns(is that right guys?), I will usually play Zerg.

i have no idea what you're talking about? i was pretty sure that the points got knocked down a bit, as did your rank when you got promoted.
I don't think that my rank or points are what's holding me back from moving up divisions. If you check out www.sc2ranks.com and look up EnderWiggnz.120 - check out the extended stats on me.
Although, I swear I'm going to be an 1800 bronzer.
This is where it's at boys. Best unit or bestest unit?
That picture suddenly becomes ridiculous when you imagine the gargantuan, alien monstrosity having to slice through the tiny little man with its massive, scythe like growths three times before the little man falls apart.

No, that bug is still in game
You should sign up.
I'll try to match you against another relatively inexperienced player in the first round, and it's good to get competitive experience.
The only reason I sign up is because this is the only ZvZ practice I get nowadays.
I'd like to play, if I'm not the only silver I'd feel more comfortable signing up as well.

I'll either miss queen injections, forget to transfer drones to a new geyser, or leave larva sitting in the hatch.
In every single game!
I knew my mechanics needed work, but damn.
On the bright side, supply block has not been a problem.

Now that everyone knows how awesome the ultra is I always forget to go immortal in lategame PvZ and get rolled by mass immortal/ling :P.

i'd rather just make them in bursts

I don't even get that far. It's like oh I'll just push out now
1) lulrays in my base?!
2) oh look an easily destroyed army uhoh it's reinforced and I have no units now!

Every single time I've tried void rays against terran, every single one (barring some like, mid game shenanigans) in a 1v1 ladder, these events occur
1. I am scanned, he either sees the stargate or the lack of units
2. I die
