ok ive had this new wave song stuck in my head for the past week. its hard to describe but the concept of this song is its sort of a ballad by a male singer about how he's going to support his love interest. the title might have the word "afford" or "money" in it.

the main hook at the end of the chorus i believe is (to paraphrase) "and i can make enough for both of us" or "and then i can afford enough for both of us". google does nothing.

it sounds similar to this squeeze song in tone and structure but i dont believe squeeze is the artist. help meeeee!

    Try this

You hit the spacebar in beat with the song, and it's usually pretty good about guessing what you're thinking of.

Would it happen to be XTC's "Love on a Farm Boy's Wages"?

Edit: Posting in a hurry and I totally got two of their songs confused - the one I meant to suggest was XTC's "Earn Enough for Us"

I don't know how that didn't click in my head. I love Andy Partridge.
