Glossy or Matte, Ma'am? [Film Photography]

Having dusted off my camera for a trip, I started wondering, is print photography dead?

A quick look at Kodak.com seems to indicate it; their tag-line is 'Digital Cameras, Printers, Digital Video Cameras & more'. Stopping into Walgreens, which used to be the source for film, now has one sad section of a few rolls, jammed next to memory cards and low-end digital cameras.

But first, pictures of animals!

These were taken with an Olympus IS-1, the first in the discontinued IS line.

When taking the pictures above, I found myself taking more time to compose the shot, waiting for the right moment and angle, unlike digital where I just snap away and delete the unwanted shots. Which is better? Is there a place for both? Anyone else use film primarily? Why do you like it?
