I am thinking this is more relevant in this thread then in the book thread. Anyone planning on buying this:
You can see the newspost on Qwantz, I am to lazy to post all the links. Basically, this
comic inspired the premise of the book and it will be filled with various internet personalities that you know and love/hate.
They are trying to push for people to buy it on Oct 26 even though it is out now so they can make Amazon's best sellers link. It is $18 or so and sounds interesting, so I may help them out if I remember. Anyone else going to get it?
I'm not sure. Well, actually I think I will buy it. I like the premise, and I trust the editors, and I'm pretty sure it has illustrations by some awesome people. I guess that's enough to overcome any reservations I might have about some of the authors.
edit: I mean, I know I've bought shittier books, and some of them probably cost me more money.
The description of that book was inferring (or is it implying?) that you would have your heart strings tugged, or whatever you call it when a grown man blubbers like a school girl.
I had a point to make, but I think it was "I DON'T LIKE THAT." I'm bored now.

"The machine had been invented a few years ago: a machine that could tell, from just a sample of your blood, how you were going to die. It didn't give you the date and it didn't give you specifics. It just spat out a sliver of paper upon which were printed, in careful block letters, the words DROWNED or CANCER or OLD AGE or CHOKED ON A HANDFUL OF POPCORN. It let people know how they were going to die." MACHINE OF DEATH tells thirty-four different stories about people who know how they will die. Prepare to have your tears jerked, your spine tingled, your funny bone tickled, your mind blown, your pulse quickened, or your heart warmed. Or better yet, simply prepare to be surprised. Because even when people do have perfect knowledge of the future, there's no telling exactly how things will turn out. Featuring stories by: Randall Munroe * Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw * Tom Francis * Camille Alexa * Erin McKean * James L. Sutter * and many others. Featuring illustrations by: Kate Beaton * Kazu Kibuishi * Aaron Diaz * Jeffrey Brown * Scott C. * Roger Langridge * Karl Kerschl * Cameron Stewart * and many
Cause, I am pretty sure you wouldn't have to worry, unless you were prone to crying spells.
Yah the Trex plushie is awesome and I can't believe it wasn't mentioned here.
Yelling Bird just looks weird. Should of just done a Fat Faye plushie or WoW girl. (can't believe his webpage doesn't have a cast page since I forgot her name...)
The way a lot of the best comic strips work (and I’m talking about the all-time classics here — Bloom County, The Far Side, Calvin & Hobbes), it’s not always about the punchline. They’re cumulative. As you read them, all in one sitting or over the course of weeks or months, they lull you into this state where you’re just generally prepared to be delighted by whatever happens next. Nedroid has me in its clutches like that, and let me tell you, it’s a pretty great place to be.
