Glasses.... online?

So I finally went to a optometrist to get my eyes checked after 5 years of not doing so. I need single vision glasses and have been comparing online prices to the stores and it looks like for the same brand they are going for 60% - 80% of the brick and mortar prices. Anyone have any experience purchasing them on the web?

Just trying to get a general feel of how smooth the process is and if anyone knows reputable sites.

http://zennioptical.com/cart/home.php is supposed to be really good, and quite cheap... slow shipping though. I haven't ordered from them myself, but I know many people first hand who have, and they've all been very pleased.

I got a pair of back up glasses from http://www.coastalcontacts.com/glasses a while ago and had no problems with the purchase. Cost me about $20 including shipping. I usually wear contact lenses and just wanted something to wear in the evenings when my eyes were tired. Between that and my incredible ability to break every fragile thing I own, I've decided to stick to the cheap stuff and I wasn't disappointed.

I have purchased glasses at www.goggles4u.com and www.eyebuydirect.com/

Both have worked out great for me

If you're only going to be wearing them as backups, I see no problem with going and getting cheap stuff online

However, if you're planning on wearing them 24/7 and you've never worn glasses full time before you definitely want to visit an optometry shop to get them fitted properly. Trust me from personal experience, ill-fitting glasses suck when you need them to see.

Oftentimes the morons at places like Lenscrafters won't fit you properly. If you really want to get a proper fit your optometrist should be able to help you out.

http://www.39dollarglasses.com/ is where I've been buying from for a few years. I've been extremely happy with their product and service.

I've ordered from framesdirect.com and don't recommend them. Very bad service.
