Windows 7 upgrade question
PiptheFairFrequently not in boats.Registered Userregular
Ok, So I have windows 7 installed, but it is an Upgrade version and I foolishly installed it on a fresh drive before installing an older version. Is there any way I can put the older versions key in so I can enter my windows 7 key.
Or am I screwed and do I need to reformat and do the whole damn thing over again.
Have you already installed all your programs and stuff?
You can just run the installation again, and the system will see the previous installation and authorize the key. It's smart enough to see the previous installation, but not smart enough to see the previous installation is itself.

Or, you can probably do an in-place upgrade right on top of what you already have installed.
