My roomate's laptop is having trouble to connecting to my wireless router. My other roomate and I are both hardwired into it, and are fine. My DS is able to connect to Wifi through it. He can see the wireless network and connect, but I think he's having problems getting assigned an IP so he can get on the internet. The router is a linksys WRT54G, and he has a linksys B mode laptop card. It's running in mixed mode currently.
I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but the WRT54Gs are pretty terrible routers, and the firmware is god awful. You can however use an open source replacement which enables a lot more features and usually irons out most of the bugs people have.

Well if you and roommate A are hardwired into it...then the following shouldn't affect you and should help roommate B.
Go into your linksys' management for wireless and force it into B mode instead of mixed mode. This should allow both your DS and his wireless card to connect. I had a similar issue with an older wireless card, "mixed mode" just doesn't work with some older models it seems.
EDIT:
And yes, I also second the open source firmware path But if forcing it into B mode works, and your router has no other problems, then you might be better off not touching anything else.

I thought that was one better ones people around these parts suggest.
