Help me remember a [Game]!

Ok, I want a copy of this game for Christmas, but in order to order it I'll need to remember what it was actually called.

Facts I remember:
  • It was for PlayStation 1 or PlayStation 2. I'm thinking Ps2.
  • It enjoyed limited success in 2001-2003 time period.
  • It was a samurai game set in a small Japanese town. You were a wanderer who entered town and based upon who you talked to over the course of the game, there were dozens of endings. Time moved based upon your conversations, so if you talk to 3 people, the plot advances based upon those people.
  • Everyone had a sword that you could swap out upon defeating them.
  • It was fairly realistic looking in presentation.
  • There was an Afro-Samurai under a bridge at the beginning.
  • You could restore your life using daikon radishes you picked up at various gardens.

I remember really enjoying the game, and lending it out to a buddy who never gave it back. Which is sad, because it was epic. Any help would be appreciated!

    Way of the Samurai

WotS3 for the Xbox 360 is very good.

Sir Carcass is correct on all fronts. Way of the Samurai for the PS2 is the one you are thinking of. The Afro-Samurai was Don.

The second game was pretty good, too, also for the PS2. And like SC said, one just came out this past year for the 360. It was the last game I actually made a concerted effort to get on the day it came out.

It also came out for the PS3, if you're one of those people. It's about $25 on Amazon.
