On October 9th, 2001, Capcom released the first Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney)game in Japan for GBA. Since then it's become one of the most popular games on both GBA and DS, with multiple sequels and variations, an ever expanding cast of beloved characters, and loads of fans all over the world. Not bad for a game series which centers about one of the most boring subjects in the world, the law.
Now Capcom are doing something special to celebrate. Alongside the upcoming Gyakuten Kenji 2, (Ace Attorney Investigations 2) Capcom have set up a 10TH anniversary site which hints at a secret project.
It's only titled as ???X???, and the site shows an image of a book titled 'Witch Trial'.
What does it all mean? We probably won't know until next year. Personally I'm hoping it's a new game starring Phoenix. Either way, it's exciting times for the Ace Attorney fans.
For the Capcom story you can choose Phoenix or Apollo.
For the Marvel story you can choose She-Hulk or Daredevil.
After you beat both stories, you go to the Final Case where Mephisto enlists Manfred von Karma to enforce his contract of ownership over Spider-man's marriage.
As for the main series, I've got Edgeworth's game but am holding off on playing it until I beat Apollo's game. Been on Case 3 for months but never really feel like playing. Probably end up skipping straight to Edgeworth's game eventually.
Who the hell starts a 10th anniversary website one year before it's actually the 10th anniversary? Also I still need to beat Investigations. I never even started case 3.

Case 4 makes the entire game worth it.
Well, I enjoyed the whole game, but that was definitely the best case for all kinds of reasons.

It's Capcom. Weren't they celebrating Mega Man's 25th anniversary for like 30+ years or something?

Apollo Justice made a lot of mistakes. But I still really want a sequel. There's more than enough room in this world for a trilogy of Edgeworth and Apollo games.
I can't fucking believe Ace Attorney is 10 years old
Holy shit I feel like such a geezer

Opinion time: Justice For All is not only the worst game in the series, it's among the worst games ever. Basically, the three worst cases of the series (case 3,2 and 1 in order of worst), an insanely overrated case (case 4), the worst prosecutor of the series in Franciska von Karma, and introducing Pearl Fey who I only consider to have any shred of good because of case 5 of Trial and Tribulations.
All in all, a very loathsome game. And I kind of like all the other games in the series.

The two problems AJ had were a) case 3 is boring as fuck, and b) Phoenix Wright. Other than that it's a perfectly fine sequel, just not as good when you compare it to the excellent first game and Trial and Tribulations.
Nearly the same for Klavier. Boring prosecutor, but unlike Franziska I didn't want to punch his face with his gimmick.
The bracelet is the single worst thing the series has ever done, and whoever came up with that idea needs to be shot in the face.

The "tell" system was really cool
But yeah, the bracelet thing is just anime bullshit and sucks
Which is weird considering I was totally fine with the Mia/Maya/Ami anime bullshit before
I think it's because the concept of "finding the tell" is a simple one and doesn't need a convoluted explanation for magic powers in order to use it as a gameplay system
If I never have to watch Lamiroir's shitty performance video with the shitty midi music it won't be too soon. Case 3 was HORRIBLE.
Btw
Did anyone think the twist to AJ would be that Trudi was Pearls? She has some of her animations and one of Maya's and their ages seem to line up given the time skip. I wonder if Nick was just shoehorned in late on in development because they didn't have enough confidence in the new cast. I know people can change a lot in 7 years but it just felt jarring the way his personality was so different and that Maya and Pearls are nowhere. I would have thought he'd have more smarts than to present that evidence and enough contacts to get him off the hook too. I enjoyed it as a game I guess but as a continuation of the AA I don't think I like it.

Is this gonna be some kind of weird period piece set in Salem, Massachusetts?

I'd much prefer Apollo 2 over Edgeworth 2.
Uh... sort of.

Edit:
I enjoyed AA:Investigations a lot more than Apollo Justice, but at this point I'm desperate for anything!
I'd expect it late next year at the earliest.
May it live forever.
So damn good.
i never meant the awful things i said
i just want you back
Case 4 makes the entire game worth it.
Well, I enjoyed the whole game, but that was definitely the best case for all kinds of reasons.
Apollo is killed by case 3.
It even almost ruins the perfectly good case four through it's actions.
It's Capcom. Weren't they celebrating Mega Man's 25th anniversary for like 30+ years or something?
I'd love to see a game set in the 'future' where Wright is a badass old Judge. That'd be cool.
And I want a prosecutor who isn't always so cool and collected when I shove the evidence down his throat!
Klavier was all right but half the fun of the AA games is blowing the prosecution's mind!
Bayonetta crossover
That... that would actually be really, really cool.
Who do we kidnap to get this thing made?
The end of the Malfred Von Karma case is the greatest end to any case ever to grace the AA series.

JFA has some problems and case 3 is probably the low point of the entire series but it's still leagues ahead of AJ

Yeah, klavier did at the very least have a sweet airguitar animation.
AJ had the best gameplay in the series coupled with the worst writing.

Actually, it is a testament to the fantastic localization team that at no point does Franziska ever use the phrase "foolish fool"
Seriously, as much and as often as she uses it, and as much as it is her thing to use it a bunch in a row, not one instance of "foolish fool"
There are talented people localizing those games

One of the few games I enjoyed when I had my DS, never got around to playing the second or third one though, or Apollo Justice
