Need to use my debit to buy things online.

Ok, I have a chequing account. I do NOT have a credit card, nor can I get one.

I have heard of reloadable credit cards on the internet but they always ask me for MY CREDIT CARD INFO. What the fuck?

I need to buy things online (android apps, games, e-bay, etc.). There must be some sort of reloadable credit card that I can fill up from my debit account. So far I have not been able to find anything like this.

    American express gift cards?

edit: oh and since you might not be in the US, I think Visa makes similar cards.

The gift cards don't work that well because you have to keep buying them and they cost like 5-10 dollars and they aren't reloadable.

last question makes me think you can reload these?
How long can I use my Visa Prepaid Debit card?

You can make purchases using your Visa Prepaid Debit card until the expiration date shown on the card, or until the value of the card has been depleted. Once your balance on your card has been deleted, you can add more money to your card at the retail location where you purchased the card or through the direct deposit of your wages, tax refunds, or other disbursements. For details about adding money to your card, please contact the provider that issued your card (via the toll-free number or website information provided with the materials that came with the card).

edit: maybe ignore this. The sites they link you to get these from seem...of low quality.

some banks can upgrade your normal day-use card to Visa Debit status, so you can use it as if its a credit card, but you don't actually have any credit - just the money that's in your account. They shouldn't be charging any extra fees to do that; if they try then don't accept the offer (although, from what I've read about some banking systems outside Aus, that may not hold...).

Otherwise, start a paypal account and bank transfer some funds to it.

I hate the paypal thing because it takes FOREVER for the money to get to your paypal account.

BUT, if you get charged too much and there isn't enough in your paypal account, your chequing account sure gets deducted FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF LIGHT, which makes no fucking sense to me.

This might be an American thing, but does your debit card have a MasterCard of Visa logo on it already? If so you can just use it like one.

As long as a credit card companies logo is on it, some small banks still have pure debit cards. Those banks suck and you should take your money elsewhere.

Can't you get a PayPal credit card, basically used entirely for buying shit on the internet. Which is really just a paypal debit card? You put money into your paypal and go elsewhere to use the paypal card as a regular credit card.

Why are you transferring money to your paypal account in the first place? Just use it with a zero balance and it takes the funds from your chequing account.... it's like you're using your debit card directly. I thought that was the entire point of it?
