Maybe you should just listen to what your teacher says, fully commit to what they tell you, and then see if it works for you. Sure your teacher might sucks ass, but there is something to be said for trusting someone who is telling you to try something new.
I do, but I don't want to pick up bad habits. I'm trying to learn how to draw with line convincingly now because I listened to one teacher going "NO LINES".
But I am going to ask her about the putting colors where I don't see them to understand it better.
