360 bundle choice

I currently own a wii and gaming pc, so I haven't really seen the need to own a 360 or a ps3, due to my personal taste. However, I am a big fighting game fan, and I serverely doubt that marvel vs. capcom 3 is coming to the pc, so I want to buy a 360 (360 over ps3 because more of my friends own one). I'm not really interested in any 360 disc games, but I'd love to play mvc2 to tide me over, scott pilgrim is awesome and I'd want to pick that up, and there are a few other xbox live arcade games I have my eye on.

I've seen this deal http://store.microsoft.com/content.a...=1&tid=2343132 which is a 4gb xbox with a second controller, 4k microsoft points, and 12 months of live, for 250 with free shipping.

This seems like a great deal to me, but how big is 4gb in the abstract? Can you download games, delete them, and redownload them, like the virtual console? As someone who won't have many, if any disc games, I won't have big patches clogging up the harddrive, right? Should I wait for the holidays to see if there is a better deal? Do you guys think this is a good value for my needs? Thanks for any advice, cheers.

4gb will get you room for many saves and one or two arcade games. You can indeed re-download any XBLA game that you have purchased.

Personally, my old 20gb drove doesn't have enough room. But if you're only using it for one or two games, the 4gb should be fine.

You could also extend the storage a bit with USB drives. If necessary you could pick up 32GB of storage in the form of 2 16GB USB drives. If you go that route, just make sure the drives you buy are rated to the performance requirements to use as a storage device for the 360.

I didn't know that Dehumanized. I have a 8 gb flash drive that I will use if I need extra room, and its good to know I could even bump up to double 16 gb flash drives if I needed to. Thanks for the advice, pulled the trigger, looking forward to taking people for rides.

16 gigs is the max for USB storage, but yeah you can do that.

If youre not looking at buying any disc based games, id just get a console with no HDD (or i guess the smallest HDD they come with). You can always buy the HDD later (for a ridiculous price) if you decide you really really really really need more storage space.

Just as a head's up, occasionally the 4gb models have issues with online multiplayer.

    Like for Halo: Reach

It's something that Bungie is working to fix (not sure if they have already or not), but keep in mind there may be some hiccups with the 4gb model.

Also if you want to play Rock Band, 4 gigs is definitely not enough if you plan to get downloadable songs in the future. My song folder is over 10 gigs and I have 289 songs.

If you really do stick to the plan of never buying a disc-based game, the 4 GB will probably be acceptable. I have a hard time believing you will do so once you own the thing, though. Installing games eats up an awful lot of space but is 100% worth it with many games, and DLC is coming in the gigs these days.

At that point would it still cost less than just buying a 360 with a hard drive though?

Worst comes to worst, I buy a $130 harddrive and walk away with a 250 gb xbox with built in wifi, second controller, 1 year of live, and 4k microsoft points for 380, still not a bad deal. Also, with usb drive prices dropping all the time, I can't see 2 16gb flash drives breaking 50-60 after a bit. Buying systems for a single fighting game is a proud tradition for me, I bought a gamecube for melee and a wii for brawl, so a 360 for marvel vs capcom 3 is right in line for me. The big draw for the xbox for me was dead rising, but every other 360 title that I ever had any interest in came to my pc, and with dead rising 2 on steam, even that need is sated. Obviously just my opinion, but I hope the 4gb is enough for me. Hopefully marvel vs capcom 3 isn't one of those games you need a ton of storage space to play, I don't anticipate as such at least.

Wait, you can use an external HD to store date from a 360 now?
