Whaaaaaaaaat.
He's wrong, though. Phoenix can solve four to five cases in one game. Layton gets distracted by puzzles every ten seconds. He only solves one case per game.
Bring on the Ouendan crossover! BUT THIS IS INCREDIBLE WHAT THE SHIT
Phoenix, Edgeworth and Maya having a faceoff with Layton, Luke and Chalmey to jazz and string quartet, oh my sweet shitting lord I'd die right the fuck there.
Uh... yeah. As much as this makes the 5 year old in me squee like a little girl, I'm also viewing this with the same eye that I used for the Mortal Kombat/DC crossover. Two IP's that according to all sane logic shouldn't ever be within spitting distance of each other... so why are they now? Not so much "You got chocolate in my peanut butter", but more "You got strawberry ice cream in my lasagna".
Still, I'm not a complete killjoy. If the combo works, then that'll be frigging awesome, and I'll line up to enjoy my strawberry lasagna. And if nothing else, the one defining aspect that links both series is that they have some of the best and epic storytelling. A plot written by the AA and PL teams better be nothing short of epic.

The thing is that Mortal Kombat and DC were totally at odds because one is about killing people in awful ways and the other is about T-rated violence
Layton and Wright will work because they're both rather whimsical and rarely take themselves very seriously
If nothing else, I wanna know what happened that got these two series together.
I'm picturing the creators of PW and PL driving down a pitch black road, when suddenly they crash into each other. They both stumble out of their cars and look at each other. Then, both proceed to point at each other in the most over the top way possible that's related to their series. Then after a moment of silence, two lightbulbs go off and they both scream "Oh my god!"...

ed: to clarify it was a neat concept but got far, far too hard in later stages to be anything but controller-breakingly frustrating
plus the platforming was kind of wonky
You've just described my wife's entire experience with Hatsworth. She won't give up, and she's pretty close to the end, but every time she picks up the game I wonder if today is the day we're going to have to shell out for another DS.
Am I the only one who thinks animated Phoenix looks weird? Not bad weird, but more like I'm used to everything about him and the games being static images or simple 3 frame animations. It looks odd to see him actually moving and such.

The Ouendan and the Agents working together for the good and the groove of mankind?
I could also get behind that! 8-)
I thought that said "Bring it On: The Ouendan Crossover".
Now my mind is filled with photoshop ideas.

Good lord, do not cross the fingers, you two! You'll obliterate all mankind!
I also hope this could lead to the possibility of a full-on PW game by Level 5. Or better yet, an anime.

Off-topic, but this is actually not true, considering contemporary DC comics are horribly violent (see #1). There was no reason for it to not be M. I'm sure it didn't boost sales a helluva lot.
None of the big three are really allowed to kill anyone in graphic ways
I mean, you're taking pictures of Black Adam fucking up someone's shit and saying that all DC superheroes are that violent
Black Adam is a motherfucker. That's his thing. If he were in that game, maybe I would have actually given a shit!

I...I'm not sure how I feel about that

Yeah, but that doesn't mean they have to kill people violently. Just... everyone else can.
ERECTION!
Really, the best thing.
Edit: also the Layton element should hopefully guarantee a European release, given how much better those titles sell over here.
But they also can't have the Big Three getting killed in awful graphic ways by ninjas and demons and shit
It's a brand integrity thing
It sucks for that crossover, but that's the reality
I'm not sure who thought that shit was a good idea, really

Tower of Hanoi puzzles are bullshit, damnit! And I can prove it!
but seriously AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Sirs, Neither one is needed!
Do you know the literal translation of the "Objection!" yell in Japanese?
"I disagree."
Everything I speak in red is the truth
Simply glorious!

It looks more amazing than you could have hoped.
No ideas yet about the gameplay though....
The really shocking thing is that as good as this game looks in screenshots & trailers, in actual life, it's going to be in 3D.

I love how Layton is so much more polite about his opinions of Phoenix.
