    part of the reason the expanded universe and the prequels suck so bad is because they get wrapped up in all of that

    It's kind of like The Matrix. The first film was great, largely because it didn't look too deeply into how stuff worked. They just tossed out some deep sounding but ultimately rather trite phrases and threw in lots of kickass action and cool special effects and it was great. But then in the sequels they had to actually start explaining shit. And that's where it all goes to hell.

    To be fair the matrix sequels did finally shut up everyone talking about the Matrix.
