Signing up with Verizon (Which Phone)

King KongKing Kong Registered User regular
I will be signing up with Verizon tomorrow. I get a large discount through work so no matter what they are going to be my provider. I want a phone that's free with a new contract and a smart phone. I have a BB pearl now with a different provider. Any suggestions?

on Verizon the android phones are your best bet

I'd check in on the android thread and see what works best for you

Basically the Droid Incredible and Droid x are the mainstray options.

Droid 2 or Galaxy S if you really need a keyboard

See I think you have to pay for all of those. I was trying to get a phone that's free with a 2y contract.

Doesn't look like Verizon has any Android phones for free

So, let's see. On their site, they have the HTC Ozone, Palm Pixi Plus and BlackBerry 8530 (CPO) listed as free w 2 year contract. Out of the three I'd recommend the BB - you're used to the system, they're good phones, the optical trackpad is miles better than the old ball and they should be running OS5 by now

See I liked the BB Pearl but the trackball gets dirty as fuck (I'm a mechanic) So they don't use it anymore so ya I think the BB is the way to go. Next question is with my old provider I really couldn't use any apps. I think the option to finally be able to use appworld and no trackball will be sweet.

    You'll like the new trackpad

And if you have the scratch, the 9700 Bold is I think 30 bucks on contract

But back to the new BBs. My fiance has an 8520 (T-Mobile version of the 8530) and absolutely adores it. She's got tons of games, apps and streaming services on it and just has the time of her life with the thing. Since she updated to OS5 the trackpad moves so smoothly it's uncanny

    Man, really?

I live in Canada, literally less than an hour from Blackberry corporate hq, and where the phones are designed, and for us the 9700 is $150 on 3 year contracts...

    You're right, that's my bad

The Tour is 30 bucks. The 9700 Bold can be had (refurb) for 50, otherwise it's 150 on a 2 year
