delay when booting into windows on a macbook

fact: i have a macbook

fact: one partition has snow leopard

fact: the other partition has win seven ultimate

fact: i created the partition with boot camp but had to reformat it with the right file structure

problem: both partitions essentially 'work' fine. the default boot volume is snow leopard. however, when i hold down option and select the window partition, it takes a long time. i get an all black screen with a flashing white underscore for about 30 seconds before windows finally boots. after that, i stress that it works fine.

why do i get this full screen dos-looking window every time i boot into windows?
