Shuffling, moaning, missing half of its face? It's [The Walking Dead]
Anyone, see the promos for the new TV series "The Walking Dead"? It looks like it should be pretty good--I love zombie-related media and figured a thread should be started on it.
It starts on Sunday, October 31 2010 on AMC in the US and is based on the "The Walking Dead" comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Tony Moore and currently Charlie Adlard
Synopsis ([strike]stolen[/strike] borrowed from wikipedia) The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the United States in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group's desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive.
Goddamn, I cannot wait for this show to come back.
It's been a couple of months since I read the book, so I should probably catch up on that too.

The first season was pretty good, with the exception of the last episode which was pretty meh all around. Giddy to get some more.
I hope the series goes on for a long time. I want to see the characters starting to deteriorate in every conceivable way as time goes on and their hope begins to die.
edit: The video you're trying to watch cannot be viewed from your current motherfucking cocksuckers. Stop with that shit.
That was indeed a great trailer. I picked up the first few volumes of the graphic novel to read in the interim between seasons...it looks like they might be going back to some of those plotlines.

Also, I really like jogging zombies. That seems like a good compromise between runners and comedic-not-scary-at-all slow zombies.
Should be interesting to see what direction they take the show after it diverging from the comic a lot. I hope that Daryl stays alive for a while. I like that character, and he wasn't in the comics.

On that note I'm annoyed that
Shane is still alive. I've never liked his story line and I dislike it being prolonged like this.

I like that he has extremely realistic motivations. I believe that the way he acts is how a real life person might handle such a situation. That's why the show has great writing. The people seem real.

I kind of like that character.
I thought it was really awesome of him to try get Grimes out of the hospital despite him being in coma, and when realizing that he can't at the very least he tried to, uh, "barricade" the door with the trolley and then went to get his friends' family and get the hell out of dodge with them. Sure, he loses some points for banging the friend's wife, but overall he seems okay.

Yeah, that sucked, but like Jebus said, that seems like something a real, drunk person might do in that situation. He doesn't have to be an all-around awesome paragon of virtue to be a good character.
Your mileage may vary, of course.

A new thread rises from the dead, a new season dawns. Let's head to the farm, everybody!
Hershel's farm is pretty clearly there, but I didn't see anything that looked like the subdivision.
I'm kinda wondering how far they'll get this season. Book 2 is, like, four episodes, tops, unless they add a bunch of stuff to it (which it looks like they may be doing.)

Yeah, I mean, he thought that guy was dead. My BFF is dead and the world is ending, probably okay to bang his wife. I mean, clearly she was down.

Oh I agree entirely. I still hate that particular story arc.
The trailer for season 2 really didn't excite me. It was more like a preview for next week's episode and didn't strongly hint at any interesting developments that may occur down the line.
Did any of you more observant viewers catch anything in it that I may've missed?
If you want to know whats down the line, just read the comic. If your talking about deviations from the comic, I'd rather they stayed as a surprise anyway.

ABRAMS announced today that the company has signed a deal with AMC, the cable television network, and Robert Kirkman’s Skybound, an imprint of Image Comics, to publish two books based on AMC’s original series The Walking Dead.
The first book will be published to coincide with AMC’s launch of The Walking Dead season two premiering this fall, and is the only authorized behind-the-scenes guide to season one. The book is titled "The Walking Dead Chronicles" and will be edited by Eric Klopfer at ABRAMS.
"The Walking Dead Chronicles" focuses on the making of the first season of AMC’s original television series and the bestselling comic book on which the series is based. There are over 200 photos including never-before-seen unit photography, storyboards, set designs, make-up and visual effects shots, and page-to-screen comparisons of the comic and TV show. The book features new interviews with series creator Robert Kirkman, executive producer Frank Darabont, the series make-up artist, Greg Nicotero, and the cast and crew. It also includes sidebars that serve as a detailed episode guide and provide inside facts and trivia about the hit series.

Looks like we might have seen the death of a character in that trailer.
Goodbye T-Dog, we knew you wouldn't live very long.
Black guy in horror? Lucky he made it past the first 10 minutes.
This is the 'Walking Dead'
If you:
1. Are a minority
2.Have something that people wont like about you
3. Have a tatoo
4. Talk funny
5. Not white and heroic
Then you're dead.
Nah, I was just joking, that isn't really true.
I mean, the hot sister got killed and she was white, attractive, and likeable. Whereas ugly ass, funny talking, total asshole, tattoed Merle won't die even when you chain his ass up and leave him surrounded by hungry zombies.
Did everyone know the main character actor is British. Do producers hate Americans now or what? First House, now this. RABBLE RABBLE MURICA!

Because the show was awesome.
But a stupid short first season, plus the long break, has made me heavily apathetic towards wanting to get back into this.
My Backloggery
What's to get back in to? It's not like there's a thick and heavy plot to freshen up on.
I wonder what Merle is gonna do.

Do the same thing you did last time and turn on the TV?

Depends on how many episodes they have this season. I know it's more then 6, but they probably won't be doing a regular 24, right?
If I had to guess they'll go with a shorter season length of 12ish episodes.
Oh I agree entirely. I still hate that particular story arc.

Kirkman has said that he was disappointed at the lack of character deaths in season 1 so I assume we are in for a major culling.
Also, these were just announced at Comic-Con:
