SO I just got this message on Facebook

On tuesday I shouted something along the lines of "Your brother couldn't resist me, neither can you!" as a joke at someone in reference to an inside joke me and some friends have that every single person is attracted to me and simply hides it, it's a long story. Anyway, then I get this message on facebook yesterday...
some dude i don't even know wrote:

I sent him a message back apologizing for the misunderstanding, explaining the joke, admitting it was my fault, but is there anything else I should do, considering I may very well get beat up by some rednecks?

    Just be careful of what you say. When I was an annoying teenfuckwad I use to say "Oh yeah well your MOM blah blah blah"

    Said it to the wrong person one day. I felt like the biggest asshole in the world. So yeah from that I learned to never say stupid shit. Don't say stupid shit.

    You've apologized and explained your mistake so there isn't much else you can do.

    Was the guy you shouted it to in on the joke? Because if the brother wasn't there, that guy is most likely the source of the misunderstanding.

    You know for whatever reason when I read this thread the first time (I was tired) I had assumed the guy was actually gay and he thought you outted him with this joke. Reading again I have no idea how I got that, but this then makes me realize how much of a douche this guy is really being. Because your comment was clearly in a joking manner.

    What do you mean by "the way facebook is set up?" The way facebook is set up it's sometimes hard to know if you've got the right person unless you have them added as a friend, depending on what your profile pic looks like.

    That's absolutely the first thing I thought, too. I mean, seriously, who gets so riled up about something so insignificant and takes it so literally?

    Also, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is high school. Considering the tone, I think he's just puffing his adolescent chest out and beating it to prove his hetero manhood, but I doubt any real harm will come of it.

    Edit: Unless you know this kid specifically and if he's actually stupid enough to do something violent about it. In which case, just try to be aware I guess
