Well, ridiculous I can handle, and even love... the problem is that it's only like, half a ridiculous story. That's my issue.
Edit: I just finished reading that guys blog about the musical and I think he didn't understand what was happening at the end... see
the villians Arachne brought back were actually just illusions, so MJ wasn't really in danger at the end except from Archene so Spidey didn't need to fight the Green Goblin because he wasn't real
But everything else he wrote was spot on... including what he wrote about both the Greek Chorus and the shoe scene:
• The plot notes that during the blackout and villains’ rampage, fifty shoe stores were robbed of their stock, an event deemed un-newsworthy by J. Jonah Jameson (and me). That pointless bit comes back later and provides the impetus for the single worst number I’ve ever seen in a live show, specifically “Deeply Furious,” in which Arachne’s Furies, a number of half-human spider-women with well-crafted extra arachnid limbs, take the aforementioned shoes, put them on their multiple feet, and sing about how they’re going to “shoe chop” Spider-Man. It was like some scene that loony film director Ken Russell had left on the cutting room floor during the editing of his balls-out lysergic LISZTOMANIA (1975), and as it played out onstage, Thaytia nearly laughed until she puked, while I sat through the entirety of the number with my mouth hanging open in complete and utter disbelief. I looked around to see how the rest of the audience was reacting to it, and all I saw were stony faces like a multitude of deer caught in the proverbial headlights. When the song ended, I looked at Thaytia (who was still collecting herself) and asked aloud, “Did I just actually see that?” I genuinely hope that the segment gets taped for posterity so future generations can gaze upon it in wonder and outright confusion.

How did the audience respond when you went? And were there any more kinks they had to work out?

Actually, overall the audience seems to really like show. But again, they liked the visuals and not the story. I spoke to a bunch of random people on the subway who saw it later that night.
And yeah, there were a few kinks. They had to stop the show for about five minutes after spidey got stuck on the upper balcony.
But you know, I saw a preview viewing of the Little Mermaid Musical last year and the Spidey musical handled their mishaps way better. They were just like, it's a preview folks, mistakes will happen. The Little Mermaid just quickly rushed past their mistakes and ended up ruining the last act.

Fantastic new three page preview of the Thor movie on ign.com. I've had my doubts, but these simple pages, filled mainly of quotes, have me incredibly hyped. Everyone sounds like they know what they're doing and everyone seems highly respectful of the series.
Sounds better then I could have hoped! Everyone seems to know what makes Thor THOR and what makes Thor an awesome franchise. They seem really dedicated to nailing the characters and world!
The actors describe their roles and each one fucking nails the description of their character. They're so dead on I'm shocked... like Ray Stevenson describing Volstagg
"Former Punisher Ray Stevenson wore a big ol' fake belly as Volstagg the Valiant, whom he called "a bon vivant lover of life, epicurean good fellow. He's a god, which helps. He's full of life. He reminds me very much of Falstaff. There's a wonderful innocence to him and the steadfast loyalty of a big Saint Bernard dog. He'd come running through the snow with a keg of beer to save your life. You know, he's got a twinkle in his eye. He's always up for a party. He's an all-around good egg. Big egg, but a good egg."
Or Jaimie describing Sif
"(The) relationship between Thor and Sif in this movie is quite platonic. I mean, they're good buddies, they've grown up with each other, they're warriors, they fight side by side. We haven't taken it to the next level yet. She kind of thinks he's a little bit pig-headed, but she loves him nevertheless. She's like, 'That's my buddy, I'll do what I can for him.' But she'll definitely call him on his s**t, which I like because it's kind of how I am with Chris [Hemsworth]."
Thats how I would describe Sif... pretty much the only Asgardian (save Odin) who won't take Thor's shit. If she thinks he's wrong she'll say so and never back down. A very important part of her character.
PS- One of the few depatures from the franchise is Loki's weapons of choice. He's really never A weapon. One that really defines him. He mostly uses a staff... but he also frequently uses swords and whips. The creators of the movie really wanted to give him a weapon that represents him... and chose throwing knives. Saying they fit his personality, strengths, and fighting style. I think it could lead to some really fucking cool fight scenes! Loki + throwing knives = win.

I just hope it's not another game in the vein of the Ultimate Alliance/X-Men/Fantastic Four games. For me, those games always had a major failing, in that they failed to convey how crazy powerful and cool the individual heroes might be, out of sheer necessity. If I'm going to play a superhero game, I really want to feel like that superhero, and get to do all kinds of crazy stuff. I think the only game that ever really gave me that feeling, was Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
Though I've yet to play any of the next gen superhero games, like Web of Shadows, Shattered Dimensions, or Arkham Asylum.
I want a straight up action game starring the X-Men
In the vein of the Wolverine movie game
My problem with them is that the ensemble games don't give you the sense of being a superhero because they're built around so many characters.
When you take one character and get to their core, like Arkham Asylum or Wolverine Uncaged, you make the player feel like they're that character
That was one of the major problems with Shattered Dimensions. It had four Spider-Man that all played a tiny bit differently but still didn't feel like Spider-Man
EDIT: It's mostly the comic-con trailer with a few different takes and some new action shots. Pacing felt a bit off.
Ya, I saw the comic-con trailer, so this trailer wasn't anything that knew. Although there was certainly some nifty ass scenes!
I thought the best part was Thor knocking the fucking head off a frost giant with a hammer throw. That was bad ass. Then of course the final scene where he smacks the ground with his hammer. Epic.
I don't know what you're talking about pacing wise though... seemed fine to me.

It's really kind of a bummer that videogames are so expensive to make nowadays. Because it basically means we'll never see B-list heroes get their own games. I mean, how great would a Jonah Hex game be? Or a Giant-Man game, where you alternately play as a tiny dude scurrying around giant environments, and taking enemies down in Shadow of the Colossus-style gameplay, as well as a giant who dukes it out with monsters in the middle of a huge city-scape?
Heck, I'd pay so many tens of dollars for a Green Arrow platformer, that basically played like Mega Man.

It's probably from seeing the comic-con trailer so much, but things seemed a little rushed and the music didn't flow so well.

Lol, now I gets ya. Ya that makes sense. 85% of the trailer was the comic-con trailer (including music) shrunk down from five too two minutes. So now I'm seeing what you mean. Too someone seeing it for the first time I don't think it will seem off though.

seriously why don't they just make movies with that CGI
also I don't see how the Thor game trailer makes it look like it will be awful
Generic, yes
A God of War Clone, certainly
But not a piece of shit
Just average
First off it's a superhero game featuring an uberstrong superhero. Now superhero games tend to suck, and I can't think of one superhero game staring an uberstrong superhero (Thor/Superman/Ect) that was good save for the Hulk game a long while back... and not the movie one.
Second off it's a movie game. They're almost always cheaply produced and quickly produced, mainly being made to make money off of the name.
Third off it's made by redfly studios, who have yet to put out anything good, their works ranging from bad to kind of allright depending on who you ask.
Fourth off (and this is the most important)- The graphics are bad. Now this hardly condemns a game on it's own, BUT it hints at poor production, limited time, ect. All of which are often associated with movie games and superhero games.
Now there is a chance the game could be average and there is even the chance it can be good, but atm, all signs point to NO! Keeping an open mind when it comes to games like these have a 95% chance of leading to disappointment.

none of those things can be gleamed from the trailer except the fourth
so you can't say it looks like it sucks at all
all you can say is it has bad graphics
that's it
and this is a trailer for a game that is 5 months away from coming out
it is probably not even finished!
keep an open mind more often
why's everybody gotta be a negative nancy all the time
I didn't know there was a commercial before the trailer, and I thought, "This is amazingly good CGI, but the guy's face looks fake." Turns out it was an actual person. In comparison, the trailer wasn't as impressive.
Also, didn't anyone tell the developers that Arkham isn't a city in the DCU? It's a mental institution for the criminally insane.

I can say it looks like it sucks cause that's my opinion. I look at it. I think wow, that looks like it's going to suck.
I tend to have an open mind about many things and certainly lean towards the positive, but as a LONG time gamer, I've learned to make educated guesses (i'm not always dead on though, sometimes I'm wrong or have no idea what to think about a game. Like I said this game COULD be good, but I find it highly unlikley. I would bet a hundred bucks). Plus sometimes you just get that vibe... and I'm getting the rushed movie game cash-in vibe big time.
No one on this forum would be happier then me if this game was good or even slightly above average.
PS- 5 months is not that long in game making time... and you can shave at least one month off of that because they need to have the game done and finished a good while before release. For example Marvel vs Capcom is pretty much done at this point... thats got what... three months till release???

Per wiki:
The story for Arkham City takes place one year after the events of Arkham Asylum. Quincy Sharp, former warden of Arkham Asylum, has taken credit for stopping the Joker, and used that notoriety to become mayor of Gotham City. As neither Arkham nor Blackgate Prison are in any condition to hold inmates, Sharp buys out a large section of Gotham's slums and arms the perimeter with private military contractors from a group called Tyger in order to create "Arkham City". The prisoners are brought into Arkham City and are given free rein, as long as they do not attempt escape. To oversee the city, Sharp uses psychiatrist Hugo Strange who appears to have his own secret agenda for the city. Batman maintains a vigil over the city, worried that the situation may get out of hand.
