Microphone Advice

Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice on a good entry-level boom microphone for video work. Specifically, this would be a gift for my girlfriend, who's studying film and just beginning to get equipment for recording movies on her own. I know that one of the things she really needs is a good microphone for boom work, and I was thinking of getting her one for Christmas. (I'm starting my research early, on the idea that maybe I can find a good deal on Craigslist or similar).

So, right now, she has a Vixia HF10 camcorder and a Canon DM-100 microphone. She also has a Rode Boompole, and a pretty good-sized kit of lighting equipment. I also know that she intends to upgrade her camera to either a Canon T2i or a Canon 7D sometime in the next year or two, when she's saved up the money. (She has access to these right now through a student equipment program as well).

So, what are your recommendations for a microphone? Criteria:
-Fits Rode Boompole (or easily adaptable)
-Compatible with a Canon T2i/7D (and preferably with an HF10 as well).
-Budget: Preferably <$300

Thanks!
-Erik
