With the new spawn rate, I've been playing on easy over the past couple of days. Nevertheless, in some areas I'm still assaulted by a stream of creepers, and a whole bunch of spiders like to chill outside my house.
On a related note, has anyone every head a creeper bump into them and deal direct damage? Because I'm pretty sure that happened to me a couple days ago, unless there was a skeleton I didn't see or something...

This game needs automatic weapons modded in at some point in the future. Then I can explore my cave without getting fucked up by creepers everytime I turn a dark corner.

Bows are pretty automatic, just hold the mouse button down.
I turned The Nether on for the first time on our server today. Holy shit.
I forgot to change the level name.. which led to hell spawning right into OUR world. The sky was blood red, ghasts were flying all around my tower.. my home, the one I spent a million hours on. I felt scared and completely violated, like an intruder had come into my real house and threatened me. It was a horrifying experience. I shut the server down as quick as I could.
When I changed the level name to generate a new world for The Nether to spawn.. it didn't make me feel any better. It doesn't help that a pig-man pushed me into the lava when I was looking over a cliff. Those ghasts! Those screams! How horrible! What sort of demonic creature did Notch sacrifice to record those sounds? Fuck that place.
After I had enough dead baby screams in my head I switched the name back and turned The Nether off. When I spawned in my now violated home I was typing about how nice the regular world was. Then I heard it... a ghast was hovering over my tower, waiting for me. I literally closed my minecraft window and debated whether I should reset to an older backup. I found the courage to load it back up and I was going to find the ghast and try to kill it with fire.. somehow. It wasn't there though, it disappeared. Now it's somewhere in my world.. waiting to scare the shit out of me.
I loved every minute of it.
I tried... I tried to tell them... But they wouldn't listen to me... Damn them... DAMN THEIR EYES! They didn't believe me... Strange creatures... The world in peril from unseen foes... The death... THE DARKNESS!
Hey guys, playing this game on peaceful whenever I get too stressed out from various player v. player games. Is there any benefit to turning it to Normal/Easy/Whatever Spawns Mobs, apart from getting access to TNT?

That.. sounds awesome. I had no idea that could happen. Does anyone know how you could do that on Single Player?

TNT, String, and drowning traps are about it. I usually keep the game set to peaceful because I have more of an interest in exploring and building. I do turn monsters on when I go into hell, though.

Oh, now you've done it. Next update: creepers wearing player skins.
I have a workshop, a storage room with a skylight (4 double sized chests) and I explored a cave that was nearby...
I'm running out of things to do...
Some suggestions:
-Build a house. An actual house, not just a utility room.
-Build a spawn tower
-Find some pumpkins
-Set up a fishing pond
-Create a farm/greenhouse
-Grow and build a large treehouse
-Experiment with dynamite
-Set up a minecart network
Oh... and...
HELL

I'm starting to wonder if I should plan out my houses on like fucking graph paper before I start construction. Goddamn, I'm always slightly off because I never think ahead.

well, friendly move towns, some way to fly, a realism slider, and a super dangerous boss monster.
What does "friendly move towns" mean? Am I just being super dense?
Also, the first time that a ghast deactivated my portal was terrifying. I ran out of arrows and I was sprinting toward safety and then he cut me off. It almost seemed intentional.
Does anyone ever have difficulty deciding which world of theirs to play? : P I'm just not sure what I want to do right now.
I've been building a "home" base then portaling into the Nether. I'll then walk until I can't walk anymore, plant another portal, and come out in the real world. Then try to find your way back. Helpful tip: Bring a compass!!!
in smp, i got bored and beat on a chicken for awhile...... it never dies untill it jumped into lava.... creatures have infinite hp in smp? does this mean mobs have infinite hp at well? does this mean that a creaper can blow up indefinitely?
Hey, does anyone know a nice .png manipulation program that isn't GIMP that supports alpha channels? I need to update my Doku's RPG pack manually it seems as the main guy has quit and everyone else make annoying changes to the pack

my guess he meant friendly MOB towns: like a charming goblin village (to burn down) full of friendly simpletons.

So I see people with funky new inventory icons and swords that look mega-awesome. What mod is that? I'm running a hi-res texture pack atm with a lighting mod, but my inventory and gear still look the same. Suggestions?

They're just texture packs. Apparently yours chose not to replace the equipment textures, or something. Most people use Painterly, or customize themselves a Painterly install.
I wish he'd fix foliage deforestation and eternal burning trees. These floating branches are beginning to annoy me, but I do not want to set them aflame.
Hey Ein, quick question if I may: I'd like to plan out, practice on a SP map, then when you're server's back up again build a replica of the Space Shuttle during launch (lava for rocket plume). Is this something that would be allowed somewhere, or do you try to keep the free build areas to a buildings only type theme as well?

Do you, in fact, have any builds in this shop at all?

...speaking of, I wonder what's above the ceiling... how far up does it go and what is there?

I didn't measure how far up it was, but eventually you hit bedrock going up or down.

For just a second, at a distance, those coal deposits looked like windows, and I thought someone had built a house here...
And then I had a moment of panic when I thought about... Him.
Then I realized what it was.
